Ha! By the time I got home the sun was setting fast. I grabbed a half charged battery out of my 5D2, slapped the 100-400 on it and drove down to my local park. I fumbled a bit with it, as I didn't set it up for back button focus or anything, I just wanted to make sure it worked. The sound of the 10 FPS is pretty awesome though
This is probably the best shot I got. I am not used to DPP so I am having a hard time looking through the 40 or so shots I took. There are a few more up on my Flickr. 7D2 Test3 by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

^^^No complaints there. That's a nice shot. Good detail.

Does the 7D Mk II have a 3 axis gyro like the 5D Mk III or 2-axis a la 6D?
Just realized this is the snapshot thread. So here is a picture of me (I didn't take it, does that count?) about to jump out of a perfectly good hot air balloon.... _MG_4909 by ddk632, on Flickr Last edited by ddk632; 10-29-2014 at 12:58 AM.. |

Pretty sure it's 3, but I will check again when I get home. This one is actually overlaid in the OVF, unlike just the LCD in live view on the other bodies.

It's actually promising. I would have shot that at +1EV to allow room for added Micro Contrast and played with the Black slider a bit, but there seems to be a lot to work with there. You still excited? I am...

With the old 7D, that sky would show luminescence at ISO 800, but it looks clear here.

I think it focused on the feet and not the cats eye. But yes there was NR applied. It probably was under exposed too, I just did a quick snap from the back door (while standing on crutches)using AE and auto ISO if recall. I will do much better once Adobe releades the ACR update for the camera.
The real test will be Saturday after I have had time to set it up, and slap the big white on it and go hawk hunting with it! |

I see no rhyme or reason for my own Explores. Some are good, but usually not what I consider my best. I had one top-20 Explore and it got 33-thousand views in 48-hours. It can be a powerful influence on your traffic.

Oh I totally agree. It's most likely because of the 7d2 in the title. I had one train shot get explored that I thought was a totally average snap shot, but then just like you, it got like 10k views in a day.

I was noticing today that some of the explore shots were pretty pedestrian. I should go back and see if they were taken with the 7D MkII.

Very nice.
DPReview.com has just posted studio comparison shots. Look at the Raw shots and compare the 5D MkIII and the 7D MkII up to 1600 they're pretty darn close, before any NR or any other clean up. I'm very encouraged. You can see the 5D2 pulling away at 3200 and it trounces the 7D2 at 6400. Not surprising at all, given the very high pixel-density of the new crop-sensor. Dave
