Well it's been a wild 2 days here in the Midwest. We had a tornado warning go off Sunday night. Nothing happened here in the northwest suburbs of IL. I had tornado sirens go off twice last night—nothing but heavy rain.


But, I heard some other cities might have seen a tornado touch down last night. Rockford IL is all flooded.

Today's forecast is pretty much a repeat of yesterday's temperatures and humidity levels. Today's Heat Advisory for the area is a mirror image of the one issued yesterday.

However, we should see lower temps after thunderstorms move through on Thursday.

Hot and rain later. Tomorrow (Wednesday) they are saying scattered t-storms all day. Fingers crossed only rain in the morning so golf league won't get rained out! Should bring in cooler temps....low 90s to low 80s tomorrow.

Upper 90s this week so mostly stay inside in the a/c. Out for my nighttime walk around 9:30pm and the temp will be mid to upper 70s. Very comfortable. Walks help with my back too (disc bulges). Come home and ice it for 20 minutes. Getting better, little by little.

Today is supposed to be our hottest day of 2024 so far, but it is struggling to break 95 F (peaked twice at 94.9) and the yearly high was yesterday's 97.1 F.

The winds for the past several days have all been out of the WSW, which has been helping me with a "bored off of my rocker" project trying to decipher raw packets out of one of my weather stations. Python refuses to properly convert little-endian hex words into integers when the value exceeds 255, and the WSW winds are providing plenty of debugging packets with the winds bouncing around between 225 and 270 degrees all week.....

It's election time The Microsoft news feed on my office workstation is filled with Heat Advisory warnings and global warming catastrophe articles. Odd how they just started showing up a month or so ago? When did 90deg days in July and August become a "Heat Advisory"? We call it summer? Worked out side for a couple hours it's 91 with a nice breeze, I think I survived.
On a side note the weeds die quickly when sprayed during a "Heat Advisory"

Our Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings/Alerts are not determined solely based on temperature. Our Weather Authorities say they issue them based on a combination of air temperature and relative humidity in shaded areas that estimates how hot it feels to the human body. They say the heat index increases as air temperature and relative humidity increase, and decreases as they decrease.

BTW, already spent over an hour weed eating @ 85* w/95 index. Finished that, cooled down and changed to dry clothes. Now heading back out to climb on the zero turn for a couple more hours to cut the lawn. Temps and heat index have gradually increased in the past hour.

Today's Forecast and Advisory is the same as the past two days.

Stormy and rainy weather moved into the Ark-La-Tex area early yesterday evening. Looks like we'll have these conditions well into next week. We're seeing lower temperatures, however, the rainy damp conditions have brought higher humidity levels.

High today is 98°F with the next couple days at 102. Upper 90s after that for the foreseeable future. Probably be this way for the next couple of months.
