Not sure if this is the right place for this but here goes.....6.5 Creemore on a robotic dog.

Welp, Now We Have Robo-Dogs With Sniper Rifles
The "Special Purpose Unmanned Rifle" has materialized from your Black Mirror nightmares.

A new autonomous weapon system combines a quadruped robot with a sniper rifle.
SPUR is armed with a ten-shot rifle and a 30-power zoom.
The weapon can only fire at a human operator's command, but it does remind us of a certain Black Mirror episode.

I watched the video of these. First thought came to mind was - can they walk on uneven ground and can they get up if knocked over?

I'm no robot expert but they can upright themselves, climb up/down rock terrains and stairs. Check YouTube.

I suspect you're right. They wouldn't be much good if they couldn't do that and given the advancement in tech that should be a no brainer.

I won't make a mystery about the reason why I own such a license but it has nothing to do with my job, I can't and I wouldn't explain, sorry.

This technology has be used by the military for a few years now, but what wasn't aware it would be available to the civilian community this soon...?

Is that a marketing show?

My brother bought the Canuck Operator and now I think I want one. Well at least I'll get to try it out first. Apparently a decent knock off of the Benelli M4, I'll be interested in his thoughts once he gets a number of shells through it.

I'd have to sell one of my other firearms to get it though and I'm not sure I want to do that. Maybe I'll just live vicariously through him.

I had a look at this and I shouldn't have....so I lust after an M4 but the price has always been a deterrent but this seems like bargain. I don't know if I could sneak another gun into the house right now though....

lol, well Moddie got me on the DPMS BB gun, so its only fair I put a bug in someone else's mind about another gun.

But if you are serious, hold off for a while and PM me in a month or so, I can report back with some real world experience then.

My brother took it out to the range (knowing that based on the reviews, the springs are stiff and it needs to be worked in, so the first few times were going to be rough) so he was expecting that, but the gun didn't cycle ANY of the frangible buckshot he got from the ammo guys.

That said, it was apparently absolutely shite ammo, they ran that ammo through 870's and they weren't cycling it either because the brass lip at the bottom of the shell was ramped instead of more of a lip, so the ejector couldn't get a good purchase on it. Plus, the husks were also expanding in the barrel so it was just apparently bad all around. Guys were losing their minds, bunch of them wrote up reports to instruct the ammo guys not to ever buy this stuff again.

So its probably the ammo, but there were other factors too, so not a good first showing overall, but he's trying to figure out which was what. He's going out again this weekend and going non frangible and different ammo this time.

Plus, maybe I can work my way up there in a month or so and get my grubby little hands on it to play with it too.

Well my two year search is over. I’ve always wanted one of these, but damned if folks aren’t willing to let them go at a reasonable cost. I already have an M1 Socom in 16”, so I’ve been on the hunt for one of these at a good price. I think it’s the most beautiful rifle in the world, and shooting that sweet .308 is just the topper. Anyway, it’s an M1 Socom 16” with the Sage aluminum chassis (EBR). I cannot wait to go fire this thing, God bless America.

DPMS was originally a MN company and fairly local to me. I've deployed with guys that have worked for them and when they were still a MN company the quality was good and they were the rifle to get. I cant speak much for them now that Remington owns the brand and manufactures them. I have a DPMS 5.56 that I got when it was still a MN based small town company. It is true that the springs they come with are stiff and noisy. The only issue I have with it is it ejects most casings to the 1-2 o'clock position vs 3-4 o'clock, but it cycles fine so I haven't messed with it.

5.56 PMC 55gr seems to shoot just fine, boxed AE 55gr shoots fine, but AE Federal 62gr green can ammo jams at least once every few mags.

.223 always seems to shoot fine regardless.

I've never shot frangible ammo through it, but it's likely that they don't have enough pressure to cycle the bolt properly, especially with the stiff spring of the DPMS. We have this problem with blank ammo even after using the blank adapter. Granted blanks are quite a bit less pressure, but same principle.
