So Jerry should fire himself?! That's not going to happen. He's been the GM since he bought the team in 89.

His record speaks for itself, how many playoff games has he won since Jimmy Johnson left?

They won the SB in 95. That was after Jimmy. I don't think he should be the GM either, but he's not going to fire himself. And even if he did, he would still meddle. Him and those loser children of his need to step aside and let the professionals do their thing.

Barry inherited Jimmy Johnson’s team, he was lucky that he didn’t screw it up.

At some point JJ has to realize he can NO LONGER win when it matters as the GM.
He has to let go of the GM reins and give someone else that's qualified a shot. Despite what I just said, what I saw today I can't really fault JJ. "Dem Boyz" decided to NOT show up. There was a complete lack of focus, too many self-inflicted mistakes, and just an overall soft defense.

Or, maybe the Packers just kicked the shit out of them from the start and are a better team overall. Our offense dominated you any way we wanted (and this was with our top 2 WR's combining for 1 catch) and our defense did, too. No reason it can't continue next week, either.

The only thing that bothered me about the Lions win was that hit on Higbee, it looked like a cheap shot.

Twelve wins for the third straight season

16 straight home wins entering today

37 points per game at home this year

Earn the best playoff seed in eight years, giving them a clear path to their first NFC Championship appearance in nearly 30 years

Face a Packers team that is bad in several defensive metrics and has a first year starter at QB. Top 2 WRs had 1 catch.

Get absolutely embarrassed, and become the first team to fall victim to a 7 seed in NFL history. Every 2 seed from 1975-2022 at least made it to the divisional round.

This was the most Cowboys development of all time.

edit:

When you look up the phrase “garbage stats,” this game should show up. Dak accumulated 210 yards and 2 TDs after they were down 32 with 10:23 left.

48-16: 24-39, 193 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 61.2 passer rating

can someone point me to the 2024 NFL Thread please?

yet again, the Cowboys are outcoached in the playoffs. Regular season is won by players, postseason is won by coaches, and we've consistently been outcoached in the playoffs.

Top 5 defense that has been playing man the majority of the season? Lets go almost exclusively soft zone. Get rid of Quinn. I truly believe if the defense could have gotten some stops, the Cowboys could have made it a game. You arent going to stop the offense for a full 4 quarters, especially with the troubles GB has had on defense lately.

Top 5 Offense that had some lackluster playcalling in the 1st half? get rid of McCarthy. I get he is 12-5 in 3 straight seasons, but he cant seem to get the team ready for the playoffs.

I cant put all the blame on dak, but that pick 6 was bad. The 1st pick was a great play, and probably a great DPI, by Jaire. He got in a rhythm later in the game, but it was too little too late. But when your defense cant stop anything and allows 6tds on the packers 1st 7 drives, its going to force the qb to be aggressive. And add in that CD seemed off the 1st half, it was clear they were just trying to force the ball to him to try and get him out of the funk. He's not going anywhere, and will need a restructure this offseason to clear up some cap, but we have seen what he can do with a good offensive scheme.

Go after Belichick, get a real #1 running back, and draft some actual fucking LBs. No more of this undersized LBs/Safeties playing LB that get blown up in the running game.

To be fair, the #2 has only played a #7 seed 6 times now and has had a WC round bye up until 2020. Its a gotchya stat that needs context to show how small of a sample size it actually is.

+1. Super Wild Card Weekend. It's a stupid stat, just like most of them. You have to think about what the stat is telling you. The stats that should get more light are how these teams fare against teams over .500 and stratify it by situations (i.e., Red Zone, third down, man vs. zone, simulated vs. standard pressure, personnel groupings, pre-snap motion, etc.) That will tell a lot about a team. The Cowboys, like a lot of teams, have made their bones beating up on bad football teams. The NYG, WAS, and a recently reeling PHI team account for half of your games*. And then when they play the better football teams they get pushed around.

EDIT: A third, not a half.

This is it exactly. Dallas is very good at pounding the hell out of bad teams. Thats how you run up your stats.....but just heard that in the last 3 years, Cowboys are 13-15 against teams that finish above .500.
On the other hand, how bout some credit to the teams that won upsets this weekend? Jordan Love was fantastic, so was Stroud in Houston. Both running up scores on "top" defenses. Congrats.

To be fair, most teams are around 500 vs other playoff teams. This season the Cowboys were 4-4 vs teams over 500 this season and 3-4 vs playoff teams.

Chiefs were 1-4 vs playoff teams, Dolphins 1-5, Texans 2-2, Lions 3-3, Bucs 1-5, Rams 2-6 and Packer 3-3. 6 playoff teams were over 500 vs other playoff teams and 8 were 500 or less. and 7 teams were +1/-1 game of being 500 vs other other playoff teams. Only the Ravens, Bills and Eagles were over 500 and outside that range.

Last year the Cowboys were 7-2 vs teams over 500 fwiw

Edit: looking at the previous season, they were 5-4. So the last 3 years, they are 16-10. I'm not sure where the 13-15 stat is coming from unless they are counting the records when they played vs where teams finished up.

Not going to sit here and live on ‘what if’s’. Meaning, what if the defense did this, what if the offense did this, or Dak should have done this! No need in even talking about that crap! Credit goes to The Packers, their coaching staff, and Jordan Love! The Cowboys were out played, out coached, and got that A$* Beat! Nothing else to say. Congrats to the Packers and Packer Nation. Well deserved!

All props to you man, you are that rare Cowboy fan that doesn't make excuses or complain about the refs, the coaches, etc. Fans of every team could take a lesson here....thank you!

I've had some time to digest, and listen to former NFL players, coaches and analysts.

Hear's what I'm doing if I run the COWBOYS:

1. I am NOT discussing an extension with Dak.
He has 1yr left on his contract. Dude wants (or his agent) to be the highest paid player in the league. SHIT AIN'T HAPPENING from me.
I've seen what you are capable of doing, in the regular season. 8yrs. F*** that!
2. Mccarthy has developed Dak and has developed future HOF Aaron Rodgers. He also has won a Superbowl. He has 1yr left. I'm on the fence if I grab Belichick.
3. If Dan Quinn is gone, which it appears to be the case with 5 interviews scheduled hor HC position. I lean towards Belichick.
4. I'm drafting a QB high this year. Dak is NOT this team's answer, period. Plus, I need the capital to pay actual Studs: Parsons, Lamb, Zack, etc.
5. I'm elevating Will McClay to GM.

These 5 moves will yield a Championship in the next year or two.

My guy Acho on SPEAK (which is the best Sports Talk Show on television) made a very compelling proposal to hire Bobby Slowik the current Offensive Coordinator for the Texans, who has CJ Stroud looking like a veteran star QB, along with average Receivers! To be the Head Coach here.

Watch and listen to these from today:

Sorry, I don’t buy the Cowboys winning a Super Bowl in the next few years no matter what they do.
