I guess everyone is busy today. I went to my local camera store today, where they were celebrating their one year anniversary in their new location and were doing a free 16X19 print. I brought in my little SD card with a recent harrier shot, and got my print, and ended up leaving with a new Canon Pixma Pro printer
I got $100 worth of free paper and a T-shirt out of the deal, and in the end (after rebates) it was under $400, so I guess all is good, but I hate mail in rebates! Too much of a festive atmosphere, LoL. Anyway, I left with my new printer in the van and went back to Pt. Reyes. The rut is in full swing and the air was full of horny bulls calling out. I witnessed a pretty awesome fight between two bulls, but it was behind a big group of cows, so I couldn't get any good shots of it, but the sound of the antlers clashing was loud and clear! Ok, too much typing and no picture, so here: Saturday Stroll by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Cool stuff, Ed. Are you jostling for elbow room with other photogs out there? You would think with all that action going on that the place would be mobbed like the lock-and-dam sites out on the Mississippi when the eagles are fishing.
We're home again after an awesome trip. I can't believe it was 10 days ago that I shot this at Fountains Abbey. Fountains Abbey by Mark J Photography, on Flickr

^^^Excellent shot Mark! Have you tried that in B&W? I think it would make a good one.
Yes, the road was lined with gawkers a plenty, but I only noticed a few serious photogs. Mostly cellphones and P&S, but also plenty of nature lovers with spotting scopes. I usually avoid weekends if I can as it is a lot easier to stop in the middle of the road for a shot on weekdays Something besides critters, I grabbed this on Friday morning on the way to work, as sadly, it is again, fully dark when I leave in the morning Waning Morning Moon by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Awesome photos, Mark!
How did you do the post to get that cinematic feel?

Crop factor is 2.35 to 1 (not counting the black bars)
Dupe layer, desat duped layer, reduce opacity to around 10% give or take Add Gradient Map layer (not gradient, but Gradient Map) For the shadows end, use Teal (#008080) and for the highlights, use orange (#ffa500) Reduce opacity of that layer to taste and flatten image Then add black bars

Thanks, David. If you ever get to the UK, try to get to Fountains Abbey. I could have shot there for two days and still not have run out of targets.

Nice shots. Are those spotlights supposed to be where the original WTC towers were? I thought they were right next to the new tower?

When the light towers were first set up the 9/11 cleanup operation was still ongoing. So they've always been in a slightly different location

Ah, ok. Didn't know that. Makes sense, though.

I've been on the road recently seeing more of the West on my new BMW R1200 GS Adventure. I finished riding (solo) the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route http://www.backcountrydiscoveryroutes.com/COBDR today. The route traverses some of the remote areas of Colorado that I had never visited before. Great ride.
