You know what really sucks?

You are painting areas of the roof. You had no problem getting from the ladder to the roof (OK, a little) Now you are done with activities on the roof. You go back to your egress point, the ladder hasn't moved, but you can't reach said ladder no matter how many times you try to stretch one foot to there. Fear of falling/heights doesn't help. You call your son who is in one of the rooms below 13 times and get no response. Nobody is walking down your street. Screaming names into roof vents and stomping on the roof over the room your son is in doesn't draw his attention. After about 30 minutes of contemplating your navel, finally your son calls you back and holds the ladder and your foot.

Can you really blame him? Your son probably heard you, but he figured you were just a few inches away from an insurance payout that would change his life.
