I like the first shot as well. It's interesting that the taillight trail has a break in it down by the blue roadside sign. Maybe some fog moving across the road there dulled the lights as the cars went through?

Given the shooting that you like to do, you really do need to invest in a great tripod and ballhead.

Dave
i prefer the first as well, it's a bit of a break from the standard sort of long exposure of cars, which is what i wanted.
i have a manfrotto 055XPROB and 488RC4, and that serves me pretty well. i like the head, at least. i do need a new, better set of legs that are sealed. i don't shoot with a tripod enough to justify spending upwards of $300 though. maybe only once or twice a month, if that.

no, traffic headed that direction wasn't very heavy....that's just as far as the cars made it before the end of the exposure.

The ND filter works pretty well on the 10-22mm as well. No CPL here.

More great rays Mark.

Here's what I did this evening:

House wren poses on a Russian olive tree by dcstep, on Flickr

Canon 7D, EF 500mm f/4L IS 800, f/4, Av Mode, +2/3EV resulting in 1/2500th sec.

That's a house wren.

That's incredible detail for ISO 800, Dave. Must be a killer lens.

Thanks.

It's the combination of the lens, which is incredible, and the exposing to the right of the histogram. I was sitting on the ground where several deer trails converge and shot hand-held, so the high shutter speed was a must.

She didn't go "too big." And nice guns (all four of them)! I especially appreciate the trigger finger indexing! Although the weak grip on the left hand with that CZ75 clone is bothering me (but I'm a gun nut....)

haha a strong grip wouldn't have looked quite right. she looks *almost* relaxed and natural, minus the facial expression.

October 1st, and 22°C (71.6°F) here in Norway today.

That's very warm this time of year, and it's the kinda temperature we have in the Summer.
