Met someone who seems pretty chill, been talking for like 2 weeks and told her I'd take her out to dinner but now I feel like I should've just said coffee from the responses here lol.
Sounds like you're doing well with this person, so dinner is a fine idea I think. If she's able to hold up her end of the conversation in texts/voice interactions over a couple of weeks, then dinner is a natural next step. I don't usually wait that long to get face-to-face, so dinner in my "system" is a bit riskier.
Thanks for the reassurance. Yes she seems to be a finer person compared to the others I've talked with on the apps. I picked a nice place to eat, near the water. Let's see how it pans out.

One thing I like is I don't have to text her first always. She'll text me to say hi and likes to keep it simple (ex: something that happened at work). I find this to be rare amongst females these days since they rarely like to text first.... is this what you all notice as well?

I think you've got a good prospect there. She seems to have some genuine interest in you and isn't merely responding out of politeness, for the sake of keeping the connection open. That's a great sign!

I'd say the opposite scenario, where you have to send Rico and Bubba and Bones over with the baseball bats and tire irons to get someone to reply to your text, demonstrates a definite lack of interest. Or possibly a chaotic train-wreck of a life. Or shitty time-management skills. Or bad OCD. Or a combination thereof. And while we might wonder or speculate which one(s) it is, does it really matter? Either they demonstrate interest and stay in the game, or they don't and get benched.

Is the hairy arm thread over 10 years old? We had one on another forum and it was hysterical.

No I think he means the watch one lol. But added the arms part to it since that's all you see on that thread in addition to the watch

Yeah, I second the fact that I believe he means the watch one as a combo hairy arm thread.

I don't like watches, so I don't visit the thread, but I've seen a few pics some posters post up that looks like a watch around a bear's paw...bleh.

I try to shoot for happy hour because
1- i probably could qualify as an alcoholic
2- chances are, she could too (college campus).

Used to go on coffee dates, but they tore down my favorite coffee shop. I loved going there because I'd try to have the date when one of my buddies was working (free coffee), and if shit hit the fan 95% chance someone else I knew would be around so I'd try to pull them in to the conversation and get her to leave

Was big on dinners, but didn't take for my buddies to realize I was probably saved as "free food" on the girls' phones so that ended quickly. :I

Ahh. Understood. Not too big on drinking myself, so I'd hope she would respect just having a meal without having to go for happy hour lol. She seems pretty nice and chill, so figured I'll give it a shot.

I hope I'm not going to be saved as the 'free meal' as I will catch on that pretty quick lmao!

We had an actual hairy arm thread which was a link from another site. When I have time I’ll see if I can dig it up. It was piss in your pants and pain in your side from laughing funny.

didn't take long**
I mean hey, you live and you learn. I was a naive and horny freshman on a college campus who didn't know much better

Honestly dinner is probably a better prospect than an afternoon/evening in a crowded, social place. Let us know how it goes!! Plus, chances are (read: hopefully) you aren't going on serious dates after chatting for 2 weeks with girls that are "free" because their parents are in the suburbs about 2 hours away so your option is probably a better call

Thanks, will keep you all updated lol. And nah man, in my 30s so nothing with her parents being out of town business going on lol. I'm not a fan of huge crowds and I get anxiety pretty quick in those situations, so I figured a nice calm dinner is best.

Just going to go and see how it turns out! Still new to all this 'online dating' shit which has seemed pretty crap for the most part honestly.

Polo shirt or t-shirt & jeans. I stay true to myself. I hate playing dress up.

I usually shoot for 30-45 minutes. I've had them go a few hours, though, if I'm not booked elsewhere and the conversation's fun and easy.

I try to maintain a conversational tone, but I ask some probing questions. I'm there to get an impression of their character and some answers to questions that are deal-breakers for me (and might be for her too). I can be direct without it feeling like an interrogation. If they're dodgy with their answers, then we're done.
I hate the shit where things seem to be going well an hour, or whatever, in and they pull some crap about having to go b/c they booked something else. Don't put me on a clock. It's rude & makes ya look like an ahole. Just my opinion about it.

Speaking of questions, I just like to get to the real shit & I have found many women can't handle real conversation & they get upset or act like I'm some terrible person lol

You can always change it & just pick a local bar or something.
I always meet for a drink or pool at my place.

For a second date I'll do something fun or competitive like mini golf and lunch. Third would be dinner at one of the local casinos or something.

Either a suit with no tie or slacks and a sport coat, again, no tie. I arrive first to make certain I have the high ground. Also, and this is critical, VIDEO CHAT if you met them online.

Happy hour and if things click, dinner.

I feel for you guys these days. Back when I was single, I got texts non-stop. I could have just left a date, and they would be texting me 45 minutes later. And I hated talking on the phone.

As I have mentioned before, I like a strong independent woman.....I could never do clingy.

Lol....I guess I lived in an area where most of the women were desperate. I had more problems trying to ditch them than I did finding them.

Now that I think about it, I was approached more often by the opposite sex......a lot more than me approaching them.

Like I said.....desperate women in my area!
