I agree. It looks like a solid rally, but I don't believe it. I exited my calls a bit ago because I doubt big money has yet shaken out all the weak hands and this rally is to trap them.

Okay, but I still find it unusual that a college kid has earned hundreds of thousands of dollars so quickly and easily from trading.

True.
I started around early 1998 during my undergrad years with about fraction of a fraction of 100k. At that time, it was "luxury" to have a dialup or those huge analog celluar phone.
I remember I had to pay $ to Ameritrade to get a non-streaming real-time quotes (after certain amount of numbers).

When I was working for financial company after I graduated, I linked my email to Motorola Nextel i-1000+ to receive my email trade confirmation forwarded to handset. People at the firm thought it was real hightech,and asked me how. I believe it was about 14kb/s speed.

If AAPL's ER beats after the bell today, then I don't see anything that would keep the market from rallying though.

Might be more room for upside on this stock in the near term, and it's got a great dividend for longer-term investments, but I'm happy with what I got out of it.

AAPL is doing great today. I'm glad I picked up more shares at $96 last week. It's broken above the $104 resistance line and looks to be heading higher in the short term.

I have $110 as resistance. If it breaks above that then watch for a parabolic rise to the upside. Otherwise it could sell off into the $90s.

Any opinions on AMZN earnings coming up? They are estimated to show a negative -.73, are off from their 52 week high by over 20%, so it seems like it's priced in... I have some but am long.

The past few weeks have been great. A lot of de-risking and sector rotation. Huge buying opportunities. Nobody who does this for a living is trying to a call a top or a bottom. Get in while it is cheap, maybe lose a little in the beginning, but make it big on the upside. This morning we saw a lot of heavy selling, then it completely switched around 1-1:30PM to opportunistic buying in certain sectors. Nobody is afraid except for risk management and compliance people. When your risk guy taps you on your shoulder and says it is time to shake a few positions off you do so to get him off your back. Its the best time to hunt for deals.
thanks for your post, I know this thread is for the technical guys, and still have no clue half the time the jargon they use but:

lowered my cost average when AAPL hit $95 and made a few thousand today;

lowered my cost average for GOOGL when it was around ~540s but it kept dropping; total loss around $140 as of today for that one but not worried.

bought some DIS when it was lowish

wanted to buy some more LUV but was too scared of the market/ebola/etc;

This entire market rally off last week's lows is so shady and manipulated. I'm hearing that it was the Fed who saved the market by purchasing millions of /ES cts.
