I went out this morning, looking for a 11x11 white-tail buck that's in my area. I put on my throw-over camoflage and sat on my stool right in the middle of their trail. The does were kind of excited to see something odd in their area, but they weren't scared. This little fawn came so close that I couldn't fit it all in the frame:
Mommy, what's this big cloth that keeps moving?? by dcstep, on Flickr Canon 7D, 500mm lens at f/4, ISO 1600, +1EV, resulting in 1/400th sec. hand held. Processed with DxO Optics Pro using their Velvia 50 emulation, which I'm quickly falling in love with. Last edited by dcstep; 09-18-2011 at 09:51 AM.. |

nice photo Josh. A tad high on the contrast though, imo.

I like the level of OOF for the background. Just enough to separate them from the subject but still recognizable as a reception. Nice.

Mark, the book is so out of focus, I had to look twice for it. In my initial glance I thought it was just a whitish background, like a wall.

Just a few minutes earlier the cat came walking up and put her head just over the center of the book from behind. All you could see was her head. Of course my camera is buried in my bag, so by the time I got it out she had rearranged herself.
