Violent Night.

I had more than a few laughs. Home Alone meets Tarrantino and a lot more blood

Classic.
With todays movies where 30lb women throw around men 5 times their size, which is laughable, this movie isn't that, aliens was perfect. Weaver was perfect for the role. She was a tough, smart character….What an awesome movie.

The guy from twister was also right on the money, imo. Sorry I can't recall his name, tip of my tongue.

I'll watch it every time it comes on.

I watched Barbarian last night. I had heard that it was best to not watch the trailer so I didn't. I was really enjoying the movie until the second act. The first act was fantastic, it built tension excellently and had me in suspense. The second act stumbled for me, the shift in tone with Justin Long's character felt a bit off, but suspense was still decent. By the third act though, I had decided that the movie was going in a direction I was not interested in. I would have loved to see more of the history of the house and the monsters rather than the one scene, which to be honest, was not enough to explain the old man.

**SPOILERS**

I also was confused for certain character choices. If the old man had the gun the entire time, why did he only shoot himself once Justin Long appeared?

How the hell and why were all those tunnels built?

The lead female pissed me off. I get that we all are compassionate, but she cared far too much.

I don't know, the movie had great potential, but after the first act I wasn't feeling it.

Ya, I feel you, but I guess I was more forgiving, there were definitely some (many?) rough edges that should've/could've been addressed to make it an even better movie, but I think generally it was done well. I thought Justin Long was great haha. Talk about poster-boy for what not to do/how to act. The female lead was great too, not falling into the usual dumb-moves-by-characters-in-horror-movies...most of the time haha.

I'm too lazy to google but it starred Powers Boothe for the supernatural one, I think. Identity or the movie you already stated? LOL.

I didn't mind Justin Long as an actor, he played the very stupid character well, I just thought it was a weird transition in tone going from the two characters in act one to someone as stupid and comedically written as he was.

I dunno, I thought it was a nice change and there are clueless ppl like that...well, not to the tape-measuring scene extent haha but to his behavior re his colleague and how he 'explained' to his boy.

Powers Boothe was in Frailty, but not in Identity, so maybe Frailty is the movie you're thinking of.

I really liked Barbarian. Agree it had some "rough edges" but sometimes you need to overlook that if you can. Many movies do imo.

I thought the scene about 'the father' was really good. The way the camera was right behind him all the time made me feel like you were there with him. Also, that scene was a very creepy and effective way to show his history and how 'the mother' came to be. Another thing about that scene was how the neighborhood originally looked vs how it looked now. It added atmosphere imo.

I agree, I liked the father scene, I just feel like we could have gotten more story or history with him.

Watched “Violent Night” today. A very enjoyable movie that mixes Christmas theme with action. It’s like Die Hard meets Hallmark and Home Alone.

This is one of the only horror movie that actually gets to me and me the mrs both love horror movies. The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, because I can imagine some weird stuff happening in the middle of nowhere Texas. I know in SE Oklahoma, there are parts of the that region where you may get buried by someone with a badge.

Because this is something that could actually happen. As much as I love Halloween and Halloween II, that kind of stuff isn't real life.
