With near 100% certainty, there will be no manual transmissions anywhere.

The G87 will be available with a 6MT.

Damn I should go buy that 2017 6mt 240 that's been on the local CL for a few months now.

Sorry yes, only the G87. Looking forward to seeing that car. Basically a newer/better/faster version of the Supra, but available with a manual.

Perfect

The Zupra is absolutely horrific in the looks department

I had the feeling people are comparing the F22 to the current G-series 3er, i.e. the G20. The interior quality of the G20 is considered much better by most compared to the F30 (or F22).

The G20 is leaps and bounds better.

Well that's apples to oranges then. You can't say "the 2 series interior sucks compared to the 3 series" if by 3 series you mean the G20.

The F22, F30, and F32 interiors are nearly identical. As they were designed to be.

The MKIV Supra that everyone wants and idolizes has:

A 6-speed manual
back seats
twin turbos

I don't know how they got it so wrong, but thankfully the M2 Comp has all of those things and Toyota was even nice enough to make me reconsider my rule of "Nah, i probably don't want to own a BMW."

Supra looks great from the back and decent from the front, when viewed in person its actually quite the looker. The 2-series was always ugly, even the M2 (aside from beautifully wide fenders). The new 2 coupe, with its horrendous headlights, front bumper and taillights seems to ensure the tradition of poor design continues.

That said, like the 2 coupe before it, Im certain it'll be stellar to drive and the wider fenders on the non-M is an awesome new feature. It does looks bigger/fatter all around though. I truly hope its lighter and definitely hope it's at least not any heavier! It was already quite the porker as is.

I've had the M235i and then an M2. Loved both. Looking forward to the new models.

Perhaps this makes a comeback as it appears there is still higher trim version of Supra coming.

I agree that the Zupra looks much better in person. I've seen a few modded versions rolling around that look really aggressive.

Not only looks better in person but the first thing I noticed was how small it is. It's smaller than the Toyobaru twins.

The Supra looks great...I would have one beside my M2C if it has a manual

The Supra will be another JDM (BMW at heart ) classic in 20 years time if it comes with a manual

Next Gen 2er Coupe (G42) Spied Snow Testing

2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe Spied In The Cold Testing In A Lower Trim
When was the last time you saw a 2 Series Coupe with a tow bar?
Between launching front-wheel-drive minivans and an electric SUV with a controversial design, it’s safe to say BMW is testing the limits of how much purists can accept from their favorite brand. Not all hope is lost for fans of Bayerische Motoren Werke as the next-gen 2 Series Coupe will remain true to its core – a small coupe with rear-wheel drive and a normal front grille.

It’s been spotted once again, this time around near the Arctic Circle where BMW was evaluating what seems to be a lower-spec 2 Series Coupe. It only has a single round exhaust tip rather than the dual arrangement with a more angular look reserved for the M Performance. It could very well be a base 218i since the 2 Series Coupe and the front-wheel-drive 2 Series Gran Coupe have an identical exhaust setup.

The prototype seemed to have all of the final bits in place, including the production-ready headlights and taillights. We’re also noticing the new door handle design is similar to what the BMW Concept i4 had, and it appears the test vehicle was carrying an extra layer of camouflage on the rear pillar. At the back, there seems to be a subtle trunk spoiler lip.

Our spies weren’t able to take a peek inside the cabin, but a previously spotted prototype had a dashboard design akin to the 2 Series Gran Coupe. That shouldn’t come as a big surprise since it wouldn’t make sense from a business point of view to invest in a whole new design and layout for just one model. A bit more variety would be welcome, and we’re hoping BMW will find a way to spice up the actual coupe of the 2 Series lineup to emphasize its sportier nature.

A new 2 Series Coupe means BMW is also cooking up the next M2, which is said to use a detuned S58 engine from the recently unveiled M3/M4. According to a report from earlier this year, the inline-six twin-turbo 3.0-liter unit is said to develop at least 420 horsepower and 406 pound-feet (550 Newton-meters) in a car bound to put on some weight due to its larger footprint.

The CLAR-based M2 will allegedly be offered with a six-speed manual and an eight-speed torque-converter automatic only to the rear axle as BMW has no intentions to slap on the xDrive badge. Switching to the CLAR platform opens up the possibility for a mild-hybrid setup, but even if it will happen, the electrified M2 won’t arrive from day one.

BMW 2 Series Coupé: New Erlkönig photos show G42 in detail
It is not often that a Erlkönig can be photographed in peace. The camouflaged prototypes are by nature usually in a hurry, only make short stops and often disappear from the scene as quickly as they drove on them. Our reader Schwarzmuenchen was now more lucky because he caught the new BMW 2 Series Coupé G42 in an underground car park and was therefore able to take a photo of it in peace. It shows that although an underground car park can protect against prying eyes, good Erlkönig hunters can also find their target objects underground.

On the other hand, it quickly becomes clear that no surprising new details can be discovered in the current underground car park photos. There are two reasons for this in this case: On the one hand, the professionals in the BMW camouflage workshop have done their job conscientiously and hidden all potentially telltale features under thick camouflage - and on the other hand, the design of the BMW 2 Series G42 was largely revealed months ago through various leaks .

The most important cornerstones of technology have also been known to many BMW fans for a long time: As we were able to reveal over two years ago , the BMW 2 Series Coupé, unlike the rest of the compact class from Munich, adheres to the classic concept for sheer driving pleasure: engine in front lengthways mounted, balanced weight distribution and above all rear-wheel drive. This is the only way to make the compact coupé a suitable basis for the new BMW M2 G87, and of course the weaker versions also benefit from the recipe, which has stood for affordable driving fun like no other for generations.

As with the technology, the interior of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé G42 is closely based on the 3 Series G20, which also uses the current cluster architecture. The second generation of the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, on the other hand, will use a fundamentally new interior design, but with the compact van the Munich-based company is targeting a completely different target group anyway.

Not so sure about the rounded trunk line. To me it evokes memories of the old B9 Honda Prelude from the rear.

I like the 2002 vibe they're going for with the headlights. Could look good if they pull it off

The last-gen Prelude was actually gorgeous.

My issue with this car, amongst very many, are the headlights and taillights. I'm at such a loss for BMW design nowadays...

Supra looks great in person. Much better than a regular 2 series, although not as nice as the M2.

Like most Lexus/Toyota sports models (GSF, RCF, LC, Supra) the car doesn't photograph well. New IS350 also looks phenomenal.

I think the new BMW design language is similar to Lexus/Toyota in that they'll look much better in person.
