That's because the mirror sits on the side impact structure, which is a Carbon cone surrounded by an aero shroud. Maybe instead of speculating you should refer to the engineers breaking down the w13, it would greatly decrease the amount of misinformation you two spread. It actually seems like most of the allegations you two put out are all speculatory, and not based in fact but emotional hate towards Mercedes.

Eg: the front wings being too high was the prime example you two dont post based on fact, but based on emotions.



I'm well aware of the so called mirror war, I've spoken about it before you even knew what it was and thought it was all about the Merc being illegal...
Simple questions,then what's with the wing on top, the bar in front of it and the mini winglets just behind the mirror. I refer you to what Binotto and Horner have said already and someone on a clip saying he's an engineer saying this and that is speculation.

The giant "axe" is the crash structure. The winglets itself are aero bits, but the regulations specifically say if you have one winglet attached to the mirror the rest of the winglets are considered part of the mirror stay and there are no regulations against such a thing.


The flap on top of the mirror is an aero faring, every car has that redbull included.


You can watch Kyle break it down, and talk about the legality boxes.


Like I said before binotto and Horner are against the aero war that can be waged from each team trying to smash a bunch of time and money into developing these winglets that can be part of the mirror stay. Horner and binotto never said it was illegal as it isn't, they said it was against the spirit of the regulations which means we don't want to have to develop similar things to compete due to costs and hence an aero war.

Regarding the teams meeting about the mirror war, that's completely different than a legality meeting or protest. This will determine if teams will be allowed to pursue aggressive developments of the mirror mounting for aero gains.

I've been waiting for this! The first video was all about the Merc side pods, legality, and their struggles. So another great thing to watch if you question Mercs legality and don't understand how the side impact structures work.

I'm not worried about anything, I don't care if the entire mercedes gets banned. The reason why they look illegal to the layman is because they are so radically different to the other teams, and no one reads the sporting regulations, and also people like to hate on mercedes because they are the only team innovating and pushing the limits - everyone else sits back and plays it conservatively (look at the past 8 years in the turbo hybrid era, who brought the most game changing developments to the table, it was mercedes).


I'm saying within the current rules and regulations the w13 is legal as it stands. If the teams vote to ban aero parts on the mirrors then i'm pretty sure the only few things that will change on the w13 are:

1) the little aero strakes (carbon sticky uppy bits on the side impact crash structure will be removed, side impact structure will remain). So alpha tauri will be affected in this regard too.

2) the mirror will have to be mounted on its own mount and not directly onto the side impact structure as it is now.

3) the aero faring will likely remain, as all teams employ its use to help out the mirror shape and allow it to be more aerodynamically favorable.


Overall nothing major will change on the w13, it's not going to do too much to the w13's design in terms of the side pods or side impact structure (which is in the same area on all other cars except it is under the side pod cover).

Youve predicted max would win every year and this was the first time he won. So that's more of a gamble based on emotions rather than solid fact. That's also not about the cars it's about a driver.

Ferrari almost went with the no sidepods, they didn't like the results in the wind tunnel.
