No wonder he's being given the push from Ferrari.

Pretty clear that Sainz just wanted to follow in Leclerc's tracks and just expected Checo to change his line accordingly. Unfortunately for him, Checo was placed perfectly on track to get the slipstream. Checo was substantially overlapped and Sainz didn't leave room, he just drifted across the track without regard for Checo.

I think the crash itself was caused by Sainz, but Checo was in such a good spot to avoid it, that the blame can't entirely lie with Sainz.

There is no way that Hamilton would have drifted over the track like that with Sainz's explanation that 'because Charlie did' and 'what happened', it gives us an insight from this instant as to why Hamilton was chosen for Ferrari, I can tell you I can hardly contain a straight face at SAI's explanations.

Don't worry guys.

Perez before the crash showed that the RBR pace is back with the frankenfloor. They really did find the flaw and I believe they'll be back in Austin with the major upgrades.

Unfortunately max fucked his setup before qual which affected his race.

But I think RBR will be competitive in Singapore and Mclaren will not.

Every dominant team that has gone to Singapore has struggled.

Merceces back in their dominant era, RBR during 2022-2023.

Qualifying top 5 is crucial for the damage limitation since passing in Singapore is almost impossible. Plus it's apparently supposed to rain the entire week so max and Lewis will be very strong, and RBR was strong in spa in the rain.

Excactly, holding back was the smart thing to do at that specific moment. And how Horner sees it is irrelevant because he will always back his own driver in that kind of situation. Not really the most objective view.

But I don't think that we will ever agree on this

They were on the penultimate lap, no driver worth their salt would back out there with the opened gap and with little chance to overtake on the straights where they would be blocked in the short time available to the end of the race

Even today I'm still shocked by what happened after watching it from start to finish..welp there goes my expectations that it was going to be a really clean race.

Of course it's the suddenness of it and at the near conclusion of the race it happens in a flash.

Interesting admission from Christian Horner that they basically ignored Checo's complaints...

We traced the development history back and it turned out that the first mistake we made was with an underbody upgrade in 2023 in Barcelona. That was also the Grand Prix from which Checo started having problems with the car. We just didn’t take it so seriously because Max kept winning.
