cute little car...
the new 2 door subaru will put this thing to shame. scion makes great cars. just not enthusist cars.... they can try though ...bring back the days of modded civics, integras, jettas, celicas, and eclipses! haha. there needs to be some "fun" "sport-ish" type cars like this made. someone buy one for their daughter

Had a TL and one of these little toy cars (FRS) keep messing with me on the toll road. They were racing one another and they started to keep pulling next to me and rev their engines... I had 4 cases of wine in the trunk and two cases of liquor and my better half as well (no, she was not in the trunk) She nodded and so I said why not, they both pulled away and I was a good 4 cars behind and about 7 seconds later game over lol and they gave up. I do have to say its a nice looking car but most buyers are going to be young and act like race warriors on the road.

Man, some of you guys are snobs. I'd definitely drive the Subaru BRZ. Yeah it doesn't have a lot of power but it's a balanced rear wheel drive car that only weighs 2700 lbs and has gotten rave reviews so far. Performance comes in a wide variety of flavors. I'd drive one.

That sucks, because force induction would be the only thing that would make it appealing to me.

If this had a flat 6 with 300 horses, I'd sell my car this instant and buy one. Put on Toyota badges like it has everywhere except the US. As much as I'd love the handling of it, its too slow in a straight line for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not captain drag strip, but I've gotten used to the torquey kick in the ass

Oh and I hope people realize this is only a Scion in the US. It was 100% developed by Toyota and Subaru. Why do you think the Toyota and Scion badges are exactly the same size and shape?

All show and no go... kind of like the old Toyota Celica ads "Looks fast".. it is quite the looker though. Can't wait to suck the doors off of one Kinda like the KIA Amante... trying to make it look like something its not... hopefully Subaru does this thing justice..

These things are barely on the road and Toyota is already addressing complaints that panels were as much as a quarter-inch out of flush. Like I convinced myself before I got my 335i., you get what you pay for. You buy a Scion, prepare to deal with the quality of a Scion.
As far as looks, I can't stand Toyota/Scion/Lexus front ends. After Infiniti/Nissan and Honda/Accra, err, all Japanese cars apparently, the Scion is just as ugly. That strange Volt-esqe shoulder line v shape in front of the mirror is just unneeded lameness.

That's a nice rational comment to start out with...
Some of you guys dumping on these cars clearly haven't bothered to learn anything about them. Ultimate acceleration and grip were never the goals, so to complain about the engine not being strong enough or the tires grippy enough is to miss the point. These are pure sports cars in a more classic sense, and every one of the numerous reviews that have come out on them from people who get to drive far more impressive cars than a BMW 3-series has been exceptionally positive because of the way the car feels. I've seen references to both aftermarket as well as TRD forced induction upgrades being in the works so it seems to be no real secret that more power will be available for those who want it. I have no doubt that suspension upgrades will be available as well for those who want to see what the chassis really has to offer, and of course stickier tires are easily fitted to boost grip. Personally, while I appreciate the refinement and capability of the BMWs, this car really appeals to me. Styling is pretty good on the outside if not as impressive inside, but really I like the idea of a car that's meant to offer fun behind the wheel and a sense of oneness with the car, without relying on forced induction and costly, fast-wearing tires. Come out with a "club sport" model that maybe offers a touch more power while stripping the interior a bit further to save weight and I'd be all the more interested. |
