I don't agree with what he did. But at the same time, I don't really think it is that big of a deal.
I get the feeling its only getting so much coverage because he kicked it right when the camera was zoomed in on it. Surely, there must be more important things for the world media to focus on. Not something that will ruin my day.

i like animals too.. just want to say that first.
just watched the video. maybe it was the angle but am i the only one that thinks he didn't kick the owl that hard? a little messed up that he chose to kick it off the field, but it's not like he wound up and kicked it full force into the stands or something. the article made it sound like he kicked a lot harder than shown in the video. flame away bros that soccer player did something stupid. didn't look like he intended to kill the bird. he probably didn't even think that far ahead; only wanted to get it off the field and continue the game. i guess what ended up happening was animal cruelty but nowhere near as bad as say the video of those mexican kids who beat a dog to death with a stick and had another dog rip it apart. i'm honestly more surprised they're causing such a ruckus over this in a 3rd world country. with all the drugs and murders happening on the regular, i'd have thought they have more important things to worry about. not to diminish from animal cruelty. |

you know...this doesn't piss me off as much as most animal abuse does. the owl got smacked by a soccer ball, which was an accident, but was probably enough to fuck it up for life anyway. yea, not cool to kick it afterward, but the owl was probably fucked anyway.

The article says that owls live on the roof of the stadium and this one had the misfortune to wander on the field of play to meet its final demise.

What that player did was not right but...the soccer ball had already caused the most damage to the bird...I don't see what the big issue is.
