If I were you, I'd buy two clean, barely used 23 in. ones from eBay instead. It'd cost less than $1,000 for a new 27 in. Doubles your work space. Also, makes it easier to accept the single input shortcoming.

On a personal note, I like the silver anodized matching aluminum bezel and the "flat" back profile on their old monitors instead of black shiny border and the "slightly prego" profile on the new ones which makes them more look like other monitors out there.

The reality of it is that macs allow you to do what you want to do, not what what the computer wants you to do. PCs can do it all, sometimes better, but always with more effort.

It comes down to what you use the computer for. There are many professions where a Mac will perform brilliantly for what the professional needs the computer for. Almost every lawyer I know runs Apple because the interface is slick, and they are fast and efficient for research and typing.

However, business software is typically windows. Accounting databases, statistical software such as STATA and SAS, Bloomberg, what have you are optimized for windows. This is why in most business settings, you will find windows OS.

An interesting note however is that Google has completely eliminated windows because it was having too much trouble securing it. They either run Mac or Linux...which depending on who you talk to is either easier or just as easy to breach as windows - the safety is an illusion created by the fact that the reward is much greater for creating a hack for PC because so many more people use them.

That said, I can't wait for the Google OS

I actually was considering that but I like the new panels a lot better. The LED backlight is amazing and for color correcting work I don't think you can get a better monitor for that price.

On a side note I hate what apple has turned into in the past few years. Seems like they have completely forgot about the "pro" line up and have gone after the ipod crowd. Final Cut Pro has been upgraded twice in the past 2 years and both were mediocre updates to say the least. They screwed everybody that bought a mac last year with the new mini display port. Anddd the new macpro is overpriced as fuck. Can't wait till this iphone frenzy dies down and apple goes after the pro consumers again.

I'm sitting in starbucks right now. On my macbook pro. Eating a $4 fruit cup and drinking iced coffee. With my blackberry next to my computer. My D&G sunglasses and BMW keys sitting on top of medical text books and surfing BMW forums.

I cant wait to go home and watch porn on my PC.

Switched from a Studio XPS 1640 shitbox to a 15" MBP. Couldn't be happier with the build quality, screen quality, and clever little features. The performance is great for the price, Parallels is an excellent little piece of virtualization software, and Parallels runs off of my Bootcamp partition of Windows 7.

OSX is very nice. I really like it a whole lot compared to Windows 7. Multitasking is much easier with Spaces and Expose, but I really wish OSX had the side-snap feature that Windows 7 has.

OSX has literally everything that you need from the get-go: not much is necessary to install to use day-to-day stuff. Windows 7 can't handle all that much without downloading tons of programs first, while OSX has it all right there for you. Also, .app extension > any way of doing programs. Why isn't everything in the .app extension format? Simply drag the program to your app folder, and everything necessary for it to run is contained within the .app package; few programs use the Libraries folder, but if they do, you can simply drag the Libraries folder and back up everything. No more registry bullshit, very few programs that use installers.

Battery life on Windows is simply a joke compared to OSX. Windows 7 has ~2 hours of battery life, while OSX has 6+ easily. Windows is much more inefficient in power saving.

Having the powerful Terminal benefits of Bash and the clever addons of OSX makes it that much better for me, IMO. OSX is quite the powerful OS.

When it comes to laptops, unless someone else makes a slim all-aluminum unibody chassis with the equivalent build quality, I'm not switching from Apple any time soon. Desktops are another story. Apple tax is too high on desktops.

I do have to say, as a guy against apple in general, when it comes to netbooks, they are more impressive in their general durability..... I've blown through dozens of laptops, between work and personal.... all with stupid failures

I work with Windows based tech for a living. At home I have a Mac Pro. I appreciate how easy OSX is to use, yet you have access to all of the traditional UNIX commands if you want. I have Windows 7 running on a Bootcamp disk, so I can switch over to run games or any other specialized software that won't run on OSX. I also have VMWare Fusion running so I can open up Windows within OSX, run the Windows version of Office in seamless windows, etc.

Works pretty well for me.

Also, I like video games but I think Hot Pockets are disgusting.

I'm not a big fan of not being able to pick specific folders to save documents in and having to save them to the desktop and drag and drop later.

Also, I find it annoying that if I want to share my external between the two I need to format to FAT32, which doesn't meet my needs. Also, not being to network between my windows7 and mac laptops is a bit annoying. I prefer to DL on my PC and stream from it but like to move selective music and blueray movies between the two. PITB to move 8gig files.
