Good for him.

If you have a problem with it, you could maybe not keep handing him your money?

Who decides on that threshold? These people?

Well, imagine him investing in such community 'enterprises' as BLM or - liberals, chill, - KKK or whatever. What about pro-abortion/pro-life or any other 'controvercial' matter? Better yet, how in the end it will be different from just buying votes and politicians?

Bottom line, I get (and agree with) your point, but it's just utopia and a pipe dream.

Bill and Melinda Gates have given away over $45 billion but have also found that any part of this give away that is the least amount controversial causes them far more irritation than if they had just hoarded it like Bezos. Unfortunately the easiest way for a billionaire to avoid any issues is to do nothing with it until they die.

True and unfortunate.

Jeff Bezos reminds me of S.R. Hadden from the movie "Contact" in more ways than one.

Yeah I get it, it would never happen... Who decides where the net worth starts, how much(percentage wise) would it be, where it would actually go, etc... but it's still absurd that any one person should have this much money. I never said he didn't earn it, so don't take it that way, but when you have that much money it could really go to make the world a much better place.

The fallacy is that they don't really have the money. It's paper wealth largely. Not that they don't have a boatload of actual cash and assets, but a good portion is tied up in their company's equity.

This plus while it’s a significant sum for an individual or family, it’s a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of world problems. U.S. gov’t spend 10x that in coronavirus aid alone as a stop gap, with many thinking it will multiply with more rounds.

Even if the government forced Bezos to sell off half his shares to pay some kind of social tax or make donations, which in my opinion would be absurd, someone would piss it away on something before it could even start to make a difference. Of course he’d move himself and Amazon elsewhere before anyone forced him to do such a ridiculous thing, but that’s a whole other issue.

Yeah I know, net worth includes all assets, not what you have in cash in the bank. These people still have soooo much money, but I get it.......

Protesters set up a guillotine outside Jeff Bezos' mansion and demanded higher wages for Amazon workers after the CEO's net worth surpassed $200 billion

“He’s doing too good in life and needs to share. Or kill him!”

Seriously though, I thought the minimum wage for an amazon worker is substantially higher than the average minimum wage across the US. I thought the original point of contention at amazon’s work place is the poor working environment.

I posted a link earlier with a picture / video of the guillotine. They demand $30/hour and hazard pay among other things. Doubtful these people even work there (since setting up a guillotine outside the CEO’s home is one of those unwritten, but well understood, grounds for termination).

Be funny if the minimum wage increased to $30/hr, but the protestors get banned from employment with amazon

I think if we did away with taxes completely this country would be a much better place. Leave social welfare up to the people. It would incentivize more giving. It's either that or keep letting congress piss it away for votes and special interests.

Vast majority of people mean well.

Something tells me the people protesting weren't working anyway. Maybe part time barista or something.

But then we'd have to send unemployment checks to Congress.
