Congrats man! Must feel good to get out of that other place. Always good to have a fresh start.

I agree 100%... Europe still doesn't have certain aspects of service and the restaurant industry figured out... either the service sucks; the food sucks or both. I was in Italy just 2 weeks ago and you can literally go to an average type restaurant in the USA (think yardhouse or something) and the food will not only be better but the service will be 10x. There is just that one little piece missing in Europe... it's not to say there aren't great restaurants but getting great food and service is a massive rarity.

Well this has officially run off the hooks. To everyone else still following, good for you.
Another stupid day today. People can bring their babies into work, and the office manager can bring her dog in, but the minute I bring my dog in (on my last week, mind you its Tuesday) because she is not feeling well, I get bitched at about "company policy" and asking first. I asked if they would like me to take her home....I live 45 minutes to over an hour away. I would have never come back if they said yes. Like leave me the hell alone I have 4 days and another job already lined up....they aren't being particular smart about this. Listen I read that employee handbook, I'll admit I'm wrong if I don't remember, but there is nothing in there about this. Last edited by Yapakanichi; 09-04-2018 at 08:50 AM.. |

Congrats and good luck. I work in another young, dynamic industry (solar power) and it can be stressful at times seeing your company teeter totter as regulations change (and there's an exodus of people/companies in and out of the industry which makes effective partnerships challenging).

Well, it is Monday - the first day of the new job. No updates from the OP, which normally one might consider strange.
However, given his new place of employment is concerned primarily with the selling and distribution of weed, it occurred to me that perhaps the OP is way too high to type any coherent thoughts about his new position at the moment, save to say he is enjoying it immensely and is quite hungry. So - is it better thus far? How are the tips? |

Well, as much as everyone was hoping , I was not too stoned to type. It's my first day, kept the phone away.
My boss seems awesome, even though he totally forgot about me. He says normally when one puts in their two weeks the company would then just let them go and that person can start working. In my case I was needed to work those two weeks. Whatever. Work was great, and from what I saw, the tips are pretty good. The boss was still an awesome and outgoing guy even though there was stuff to do. But I did good cause he wants me to come back and said that he was already hearing good things. |

I hear that is a pretty common side effect

Well that happens these days unfortunately. This is also why I chose to leave my last job professionally (even with the BS) so I had a fall back option, maybe. Also there is my GI bill, and if all else fails there is what little I have left over from my disability after the bills are paid till I can land another gig.
Plan A, Plan B, Plan C. Grateful for C. But hey at least I have no kids to worry about. EDIT: or then again things might have gotten better in the civilian sector since I was in the Army. I joined in 2011, the economy was in the shitter then. |
