The Brabus SL is much heavier than this. This is an SL that's been put on a diet, has been turned into a coupe for structural benefits, and has recieved massive tuning work. The Brabus hardly compares.

Something tells me that they could've found other places to lose weight though. 4000lbs is still heavy.

The CLK black pulls off the look much better, IMO.
I think it is a very impressive machine, but for the cash I'd still much rather have a lambo or a GT2. |

i have 3 amg's now and dammit they are unreal 2 diff s55 engines and one s63...they are unreal cars...but only and i stress only in a straight line same with the c55 i drove and the e63 i drove a week ago...they suck at handeling and road feal but the sound of the engine kills any audi, bmw i have ever heard..the new 63 engine is awesome!!!!!!!!! 65 is over kill it doesn't really have usable power..the tires just smoke and the cars edc goes nutty!!!!! but damn amg knows how to build engines..to bad the chassis given to them by merc were more for luxury than sport!!! still awesome cars just not well balanced!!

And the funny thing is that the Nissan GT-R will still be faster because we all know it's the fastest car on the planet

It'll most likely rape the SLR if I do say so myself.

At the Dallas auto show recently MB had a 2009 SL600 on display, and I must say, it was not a particularly attractive car. The front end ("Nose" if you will) looks bulky and ungainly. The wheels were hideous (although I bet the AMG has much cooler ones). Basically, the "new" SL is merely a facelifted version of the 03-08 SL. The interior is practically identical, save some cosmetic upgrades, and the exterior (to me anyway) looks like a 2008 SL with a cheap aftermarket body kit.

The non-AMG SL's aren't that attractive imo. They're incohesive in design.

Okay it's not that bad, but its the only way I can explain it. I think that opinion applies more to models like the 5 series. It looks strange without the Msport kit or being an M5.

That stupid 5-speed automatic slush box needs to go. Had that in my E55 and my C320 and it was far inferior to the ZF 6-speed in the E9X

I agree.^
Their 5spd auto is pretty subpar in relative to modern standards, but I think this one has upgraded software and I'm sure they've tweaked it here and there. I don't think they would want to botch up a car like this with an inferior tranny. The car has so much accessible torque that there really isn't a need for more than 5 speeds as is.
