If they do do this I hope it isn't as lame as the Lexus F cars. Get some power that pushes the competition, not approaches it. A new Supra with 450 hp and matching handling that competes with a standard vette would be a good start.

Sounds like my MS6 is a pile then based on your skewed, and incorrect, view.

Mazda speed 6? Not saying it isn't adequate for an everyday vehicle, but I don't think it's existence refutes anything I said.

The R35 is the last car Japan built that imo has good damping, and is quick in stock form, but it's interior still isn't great, especially considering the price. It's not a car of passion, more a technical excercise in engineering, in which it excels, but isn't an exciting car to drive dynamically speaking. It's 'capable' in that typical Japanese way.

Toyota left the performance car world after the 90's and has no real intention of coming back.

Then you get Lexus, who can only get a performance car partly right. Even their best effort, the LFA, was way underpowered and underwhelming for the insane price.
LOL. Their best effort is better than the best effort of any BMW ever with a Nurburgring time of 7:14.. and this was 5 years ago -convincingly beating the LP700-4 and MP4-12C, and obliterating Ferrari's 458 that's equally "underpowered". It's also probably got one of the best sounding engines of any production car. "underwhelming"

Never holding my breath for a Japanese sports car/ sports coupe again. Though, I do love the "new supra".

New supra lame. Toyota hasn't produced a sports car worth looking at in quite some time.

So the Merc-Mclaren SLR looks like it has a deviated septum to you as well then?

Oh, you mean their limited edition Nürburgring package with a base price of $445,000. The regular LFA didn't run that number. You mean the same car that was beat by the Viper ACR by over 2 seconds a few days later for 1/4 the price?

So yes, this special edition LFA outran a MP4-12C that sold for half the price. Or the 458 that is a little over half the price. You know, a price difference where you could buy the Ferrari then buy a house with a garage to keep the Ferrari for less than the LFA.

The LFA @ 200k is a good car. The LFA at 400k+ is overpriced and underwhelming.

This is what I hate about the Nurburgring. Not everything comes down to lap times.

Guy in my neighborhood has a pristine MR2 Turbo. It's pretty awesome. Wish they would step back up.

Back in 1990, Toyota had the nerve to advertise a 30k'ish MR2 as comparable to a Ferrari 348tb; which I saw as a silver one stalled by a guy last year as I was gawking at it.

It would be a stretch and unfathomable to even compare a 2017/18 MR2/Supra to a 2016 Ferrari 488, but to a 2011 Ferrari California would be realistic.

Put the M2 innards into a package a couple hundred pounds lighter, priced at 50-55k would be nice.

I'd like a brz/frs/gt86 with four doors and a usable back seat. Would be about the perfect car.

There's something like that already.... The Impreza and Corolla.

Although not RWD. Come to think of it, no such thing as a small subcompact RWD sedan with no hp.

Wait, the 320i!

If you think the 320i is actually subcompact, I want what you're smoking.
