Why is this? Do husbands these days even try to date their wives? Also, families are so busy working like crazy and running around trying to keep up with the Joneses. They are not only doing this in their immediate circle but the perfection and all the best lives they see plastered on social media also impact this. Does the wife have hormonal levels off?


Then, if they aren't relieving all that aggression through sex, what else is there. Don't want a whole bunch of rage quitting alternate reality men with full sacks running around, who knows what they will do.
Porn is the easiest way to relieve all that pent up backlog.

There are other things that can be used or done in combination besides just sex. If you have that much aggression that can only be relieved through sex there are other underlying issues at hand. It's amazing how little people want to actually do these days to work on themselves. Let's just cram pills or the next best diet injection into our bodies because god forbid we actually do work or put in time to make changes for the better.

I think straight legal age porn is like anything else, if you become addicted to watching it, that's telling you there may be a problem. Amusing to me how many assume that women don't consume porn (quite incorrect assumption BTW). Like so many other things, now the shoe is on the other foot - men get to wonder if she is fantasizing about a guy with a baseball-bat sized unit, just like their female partners had to wonder if he really ws thinking about Ms. April's silicone injected Barbie-doll proportions. I suspect that once that sinks in there may be a little more willingness to recognize that the totally unregulated access to this is pretty disruptive for healthy development.

I would say out of 10 female friends, 8 have expressed they watch and dont hide it from their husbands of BF's.

Interesting to get a woman's perspective on it - do you think its detrimental? Do you think it has a different effect depending on whether it is a guy vs girl watching it?

I think it personally is detrimental. There's the dopamine hit that was mentioned previously, but I guess I'd also compare it partially (though not the same) to having sex with multiple partners instead of one. It is my hypothesis, though I don't know, that if you have multiple partners before marriage, that each one brings something different to the table that the other does not (sexually speaking) and vice versa. I think as a result of that, you inevitably wind up comparing the person you married to the others in some way and wishing they did *this*, whatever *this* was. Whereas, had you not had any sex before marriage, you wouldn't have a clue what you were "missing" so to speak. And there wouldn't be the same comparison, by extension, you are then happier.

I think porn basically brings that back in, not to the same degree of course because you aren't experiencing it physically / emotionally, but it creates these unhealthy comparisons which doesn't help your relationship.

This is partially why I'm an advocate for abstaining from sex before marriage, though I completely understand the temptation. To administer the coup de grace to this thread though, I'll have to say it is also because it is a Biblical command.

Part of the detrimental aspect is how mainstream it has become. It's now acceptable for Kardashian to release a video of her in the act and then become a literal thought leader for our youth. Or if it has supercharged the libidos of incels. Who compare themselves to the men in the videos, as pointed out, and revert their frustration to video games that reward shooting as many strangers as possible. Using graphics WAY more real than the 32 bit games we once played. No. It's healthy to explore and everyone has different limits. Someone might watch it with a partner to become aroused but they still respect each other etc. and don't rely on it to climax. They can go without it if need be.

Women do consume it. Probably the same amount if not more. Possibly because most women don't have a refractory period. Some women have a few minutes. Basically she's ready to go again after she has peaked. For this she may or may not watch more of it to go again if that's what she uses when solo or putting on a show.
