If you are looking for the lower cost option, it is indeed the clear winner.
I would say that a person looking for value should look at a tag heuer... its a great watch for far cheaper than say a breitling.

Congrats and welcome to the Rolex club. I got my first Rolex 6 years ago on my 40th birthday from my wife and I'm still "mildly obsessed" with it

Luckily The SS Submariners are pretty much impossible to find. Otherwise, that would be on your list OP. I got my SS 36mm DateJust, a couple of years later, a SS Submariner was added to my collection.

This is just the beginning OP. It's a expensive, fun hobby. The new OP 39mm white/silver dial is on my radar.

Congratulations. There is nothing like a good self winding watch. I have two Rolexs an Explorer II and a Blue faced Yatchmaster.

Snap!

My first, and only Rolex, 5 years on.

I have no desire for another watch any more.

That's unusual. I've worn mine with short sleeves for five years and only about two people have noticed.
Both were into watches.

Without the cyclops or fluted bezel, it's a very under-the-radar Rolex.

114270 was the last of the 36mm explorers before they moved up to 39mm.

Might have been never worn, but the watch is 10+ years old.

I actually have it on a leather ostrich leg strap now...talk about under the radar now!
