To put numbers behind it all. I chose a random country, Italy (well not random, I lived there) and looked at Auto thefts compared to the US. Italy is worse than the US. Italy is ranked 4th worst. US is 6th worst

Auto thefts Per 100,000 Residents
Italy 475
US 390.2

I would hardly call that common. And obviously not all of these are from comfort access.
You can prove anything and nothing with statistics.
Of two F11 550i in Sweden, one was recently stolen using this method. That's a 50% risk right there..

Very true. And not trying to argue about it, but to look at it overall. I guess my overall view is, life is not as bad as portrayed.

Jump on eBay and you can get 10 for the price of 1 over the counter.

But... you know... if you live in the northern half of the USA, wouldn't putting the key in the fridge in winter actually heat it up?
(j/k - i live in the tropics)
Thanks but Buying the batteries is one thing. Cracking the remote open to install it without fucking it up is another. On my e46 remote, it was a pain in the ass... its not meant to be cracked open. Not sure about my M4 remote... but replacement remote from dealer is $$$$.

And here I am with no dings scratches or breakins, parking in shifty parts of SFL. I got the replacement model option on insurance for a reason lmao I want that 2018 😉

I changed the battery in my F80 M3 remote this morning. It took three minutes, and that included googling it and watching the YouTube video. It is not only meant to be opened by the vehicle owner, it is also very simple to do.

That being said, I don't think I would ever put my fob in the fridge. Except on opposite day, of course, where I always put my key in the fridge and open my car with a can of beer.

Its not just stealing the car. They open the car and steal everything they find valuable and its not covered by ins. And probably its more common then stealing the car
