The AP2's balance can be significantly modified with as little as an alignment, which you would probably know if you had the driving experience implied. Anyway, if you want a thrilling chassis and double the revs of an AP1 you should look into the motorcycle world. M-cars, Ferraris, and even the S2000 will look like buses made for grandmas after that.

Please, please, PLEASE don't Type R-ify an S2000, even in a Gen-2.0 artist rendering like the one above.
Doing so sullies the greatness of that car in all regards.

It's not like a Z3 MC was a wildly practical car, but it didn't require you to pack into the trunk without a suitcase for a weekend trip and had the luxury of sound deadening in the fender wells, so rain didn't sound like a German invasion. |

For some reason I was just never an s2000 person.
Would be nice if they replaced an S2000 with a smaller NSX knock off though and charged base price M3 money for it. |

Needs 8 way directional power seats and telescopic steering wheel. After that I'm on board. It was simultaneously one of the most fun AND uncomfortable cars I've ever driven.

Type R'ing it would bring on the dreaded 'boy racer' tag on it that would kill it's exclusive reputation.

As a former S2000 owner (I had 4 of them over the last 10+ years) I hope they don't re-make the car as anything modern. Unless they try to compete directly with the Miata and product something small and light it won't touch the original.
It's a fantastic car for driving enjoyment and it's a car that very much rewards a good driver. Bad drivers will pay for mistakes in one. At this point in my life I look fondly back at my time in them but don't really have a desire to ever own another one. Tons of fun miles, lots of great friends but it's something I didn't want to invest any more time/money in and I had been wanting to make the change to a M car for several years. Good shocks + Square wheel setup + Front Sway bar and you've got a great S2000. |

Agreed! I owned a AP2 for nearly ten years. Visited the Tail of The Dragon a few times and meet fantastic fellow S2k owners along the way. In this climate of truck and SUV's overtaking car sales, I'd be shock to see Honda devote resources to a 2nd gen S2k. I even wonder if Mazda will develop a 5th Gen MX-5; their current halo car.

Looking forward to what this looks like. A few of my coworkers I do track days with have S2000s and outside of huge plumes of white smoke in high G corners those cars are damn near bullet proof and pretty quick.

Loved my 2002 S2000 with 18 in OZ Superleggera rims and Comptech performance exhaust; there are few sounds on the planet better than shifting just before the 9,250 RPM rev limiter....
