Also - take a look at the video game market - there are "ratings" for video games, and most of them are rated teen or mature. I'd like to buy one for my children, but I realize there are many adults playing these games nowadays (we're old pal). |

If you've paid attention to Sony's recent PR fumbles with the release of the PS3, then you should already know somewhat what is about to come. For the rest of you I'll explain briefly.
Sony has been, to put it nicely, screwing up completely when it comes to almost anything related to the ps3. From the sky high price point and arrogant attitude about it afterwards, toss in of motion sensing, lack of rumble feedback, supply shortages, to not including even component cables (needed to do HD) in the box. They really have dropped the ball, I don't care if your a Sony Fanboy or not, you have to admit that they have sucked it up as of late. One of the other fun things has been to delay the European launch until 2007, so no ps3 for you europeans until after the new year. But whats that? You say your going to just import one? Sorry, Sony says no. Sony has caused the most popular importing website on the internet www.lik-sang.com to shut it's doors because of lawsuits brought against it for offering to import ps3's to Europe. http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3901 Now I'm not one to usually get upset over giant corporations, but Sony is going too far, this is just ridiculous, they claim to be protecting their consumers, how?

Wii
Nintendo really understands gaming. I bought PS2, Xbox and Gamecube last round. I'll probably do the same this round, but Wii is the one I'm most excited about.

PS3 will come with a blue-ray dvd player which cost around 800-1,000 dollars just for the player. I've played some PS3 games (at a convention) and honestly there is nothing really that special... IMO. But getting a blue-ray dvd player is worth the 500 bucks.

I finally bought the XBOX - just played with it a short while to test it, and now is wrapped. Hope the kids will like it. Got 3 games for them (plus 3 more that Burger King gave me almost for free - must be junk - has somebody tried the BK XBOX games?)

Its hard to say different people prefer different systems.
Pick one that you like, but overall Ps3 has the most potential. |

And 1080p is only via VGA output. Also note that 360 does not have HDMI, so you cannot get Dolby True HD. |

From here :- http://www.joystiq.com/2006/09/20/tg...-bullet-point/
"At their pre-TGS press briefing in Tokyo today, Microsoft announced that the Xbox 360 will support 1080p content through a software upgrade. The "p" stands for parity. Microsoft's announcement -- which effectively parries Sony's bold claims regarding the merits of 1080p high definition content or, as Sony calls it, True HD -- is their latest move seeking to blunt the impact of the oncoming Sony PS3 hype-train. With the True HD cat de-clawed, Microsoft's mantra of choice will appear even more appealing. It's another bullet point taken out of the next-gen console war equation. Joystiq spoke briefly with Shane Kim, General Manager of Microsoft Game Studios, about their announcements in Tokyo today. First off, Kim clarified that, while the software patch would upscale all content to resolutions as high as 1080p, Microsoft themselves had no plans to produce gaming content taking advantage of this ability. He was similarly convinced that very few other developers would see the value in producing 1080p games, with the singular exception of Sony's first-party studios, eager to validate the value of the capability. Similar to the way the Xbox 360 upscales original Xbox games from 480p to 720p/1080i, you'll be able to enjoy your existing Xbox 360 games at the new resolution. As if you needed more proof that Microsoft's adoption of high definition HD-DVD is little more than a strategic move to limit Blu-ray's potential sphere of influence, Microsoft's 1080p software upgrade will also remove some of the value of their upcoming HD-DVD add-on by upscaling your existing DVD movies to HD resolutions, including 1080p. So, Microsoft just announced that the Xbox 360 will play your existing DVDs back in high-definition -- in addition to being able to play back legitimate HD-DVD content if you're interested -- and they're gonna do it in 1080p. In the bullet point war, Sony better hope that extra Blu-ray disc space is worth it; they'll have a chance to prove it at TGS this week"
