Actually, i agree with you on this tonight. I'm trolling now thanks to a tiny (major) fuck up i managed to land myself in this weekend.

My ankle (left) is pretty much toast, so i stole my friends car (auto) to take their dogs to the woods. Naturally, since I'm a considerate and mindful person, i didn't bother to take a phone with me for the one trip when i do manage to get stuck (the ground is not frozen solid, but we did manage to get a ton of snow) . Anyway, i hate automatics even more now since you can't exactly smoothly rock the car to a solid ground with an auto.

The worst part is that i should've known better but naturally I rather spent two hours getting out by myself than admitting that failure to anyone i know in real life.

Revmatching is an aid the same way as an automatic choke or a synchronized gearbox is.

Why would you prefer a throttle cable? That is not something you can feel per say nor gives it more or less to operate while driving. The weight of the pedal or linearity of the throttle is not related to a cable or wire but the design of the total system.
And on that note a carbureted system would sound exactly the same. I dont think you hear the noise from the injectors over the engine noise so whether its injected by an electrical system or the bernoulli effect doesnt make any difference. If a carburetor sounds different its because it is fitted with a different intake manifold or air filter. Fit that to an injected car and it sounds the same. You'll probably end up with <300hp on your M3 though. Thats probably why it has been a very very long time ago that bmw fitted a carburetor (and certainly on an M car bmw never fitted a carburetor, it was usually on the cheaper, lower specced cars, some 30-40 years ago....)
What normal people (non engineers) associate with sound coming from a carburetor is usually an open carburetor they've heard. But its the valves you hear, not the carburetor, as that is a silent part.

Booooooooooooolshiiiiiiiiiiit to the throttle cable. Some propellerhead somewhere determines the throttle response with drive by wire shite. The M3 is pretty good but my old dodge truck did EXACTLY what my right foot told it to every time. No question.

Anyway, back to rev matching. Manuals are dying. Not enough people are willing to endure the discomfort of using two legs, manufacturers have tried to make the manuals as easy as possible for the consumers but consumers apparently have spoken loudly and clearly. To the conditions in Canada and in the northern and central Europe, i would recommend one to everyone for safety and for fun but these great issues such as rev matching and not being able to drink coffee while in heavy traffic have ensured manual drivers are the new addition to the club of angry men.

Its five am here and i can't sleep since the whole "it'll be fine, i can do this with minimum effort" mild ego busting incident got my bad ankle to hurt so badly again (only two months going on and no end in sight again) that i can't sleep .

I hate drive by wire. The E90 is pretty bad. You have to push the pedal about 1/3 of the way down before it starts responding.

My other vehicle is a 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the 4.0L inline six. Cable throttle. A few days of driving the E90 and switching back to the Jeep and I can spin the tires at a stop by accident if I press the pedal too quickly.

I put an inline booster in my throttle pedal for my E90 328. Without it, it is total garbage.

Still, better than an Acura TSX. Those things were the least responsive piles of shite made...

It's all about creature comforts in new performance cars. It's not a raw driving experience anymore, it's how much tech can be thrown at it to make it stick to the road and get from A to B the quickest way possible.

Not saying it's a bad thing, it's impressive tech has gotten to where it is. However, it'd be nice if there were still some offerings of a 6MT with none of the gadgets. Might not make it around the track as quick, but will have 1000000x more fun.
