Flame tunes and two-step (on NA cars) are all the hype with millennials
I'm a millennial. Not my cup o tea.

I had it for a couple years while running the Gintani tune. It was amusing for a very short time but got old real quick....esp when driving on the track. Just ask roastbeef lol.

(currently back on stock tune due to smog testing)

I also dislike it greatly. It’s too Hey Look at Me. It seems that most people I talk to are super impressed with the burble tune,....I can’t figure out why.

Darnit, I'm not afraid to admit it, I love my BPM Stage 2 burble tune. Soft at low rpms, loud and obnoxious at high rpms lol. Zero issues. O2 sensors lasted well over 130k kms, and no issues with plugs either.

And I'm not even that young, closer to 50 than 40. Maybe this is my version of a midlife crisis? Hahaha

To each his or her own but never on my car. Props to those though that take pride in their wheels, even the riced out slammed, burble fart cans quasi race cars out there, I love looking at them and appreciate the effort that goes in.......and I am likely a lot older than most.

Its dumb. My catless 911 does it occasionally (naturally) but these people who roll around constantly backfiring are cancer.

My street bike spits back a bit from the factory on overrun... not gonna lie I do like it, feels good. I wouldn't tune my m3 to do it though.

Pop, Crackle and pop

I did not expect this question to generate so much traffic, but good to see that i am not in the minority.

Anyways, like i said - for those who enjoy it - keep at it.

I do like the very occasional loud single BANG on shifts at high rpms every now and then....but the popcorn constant popping is annoying for sure, wouldn't do it to my car. Is there a tune out there that does just a single pop every once and a while?

Agree, one or two crackles when you let off like on up-shifts would be fine.

But constant popping from 8k to 5k under decel makes it seem unnatural and broken.

I get a little fart on upshifts before she gets all the way warmed up, no primary cats and stock exhaust.
That's enough "sound effects" for me. Once she's warm, I only wanna hear that "high note"

Can someone explain exactly what's creating the crackles and pops you're discussing? I'm not smart like that.

Raw fuel being dumped into exhaust. That's the short answer.

If you want to get deeper into the subject-

Farting sound is not appealing...I notice bunch of young kids driving by busy streets..purposely making those sounds while people are laughing at them. Same mentality with those “ultra stanced cars” having the wheels sideways...it’s all for attention....I guess negative attention is better than none? :

It's always young guys in new C63s and F30/F80s farting around Beverly Hills. New porsche's are also flatulent.
Obnoxious trend, manufacturers trying to make bad sounding turbo cars have 'soul'.

Upshift DSG style 'farts' that are tuned on most new cars are almost as bad. Novelty has worn off. It's not a real race trans.

Jumping on the "it sounds ridiculous" bandwagon. Like others, I don't mind if cars do it naturally due to the setup they might have, but the artificial popcorn sound so many tunes have now is dumb to me.

I have the MPE on my Comp Pack M3 and the noise that damn thing made from the factory was actually really annoying. I don't know why BMW thought that was a selling point. I have it turned almost completely off with BM3. It only gives a couple "burbles" instead of the gunshots/popping if you let off the gas fast enough, otherwise it's just all exhaust noise.

I had a Factory Five Cobra with a 302 Roller, that thing had a pretty kool exhaust note, and would give the most glorious sound on the downshifts and of course WOT.

I've heard a few cars that the SCP don't sound too bad on, I'm thinking the new Mustang GT350 with the Flat Plane Crank.

I can't stand burble tunes, reminds me of my old college roommates SRT4, cringey.
