My friend, Max doesn't have hundreds of millions of followers. He doesn't even have 4 million on IG...the number is 3.9 or so. HAM has 21+ million followers on IG and is the only F1 that is a global name.

While I wholeheartedly agree, this seems par for the course with all sports. Affinity for color, person, location makes them choose a team for their own, then confirmatory bias kicks in. Next step is wait for someone to challenge said biased personal decision and attack other side with paramount levels of testosterone filled combat (verbal or physical) all the while those actually ‘doing’ the sport couldn’t be bothered with most of this barbaric and unending human behavior.

I too wish for “my team” BS to disappear, but you and I are the few and far between.

I agree. I just HATE when BS is touted as fact. I try to always back up my assertions with facts, quotes and sources. Unfortunately, there are those who use hyperbolic statements as their stock and trade.

F1 is a sport of data, performance and facts with a ton of emotion thrown in for good measure.

F1 was never big in the Netherlands. Fav. sports are football and believe it or not speed skating.
I have visited F1 GPs all over the world and I was always impressed by the large number of British and German fans and their sheer knowledge of the sport. Dutch fans were largely absent.

But when Max won his first GP in Barcelona, obviously all orange idiots jumped on the bandwagon.

As I said before, I like Max and yes I'm Dutch but I certainly don't like the Orange army idiots. They should stick to their sorry ass local football club.
