I think you're right that MJ was better, but there certainly is an argument to be made. It's a team sport and they played in different times.

MJ>Kobe. MJ played against tougher competition and players took a beating back then. Kobe was a great player but the rule changes benefited players like him as the NBA moved to an offensive minded league.

Kobe can not be better than MJ:

MJ was the BEST player on his teams at all times and the BEST player during the 6 championship runs, Kobe wasnt even the BEST player on the Lakers during the first 3Peat Shaq was, hence he 3 Finals MVPs for Shaq

Jordan, hands down better. I watched both and Jordan was so much better to watch play. He was dynamic in every play on the floor. Kobe on the otherhand had sparks of greatness but was never truley great. Kobe just never had the sense of Jordan to predict where the ball would go. When you watched Jordan it was as if he KNEW where the ball was going to go. It didn't matter if it was off the rim or off someone's fingers. It was incredible to watch.

Jordan was the best. Played against tough hard nose teams with legitimate centers. Remember there was hand checking then. Jordan would've average 40pts today. Bad teams, no hand checking, no true quality centers, phantom foul calls, and teams barely play defense. NBA sucks today. Hard to watch. However, I enjoyed watching Kobe. However he was no Jordan. But to me, second best.

Jordan better than Kobe. Kobe is the only player you can even argue is in Jordan's arena. I love the arrogance in both of them. They know they were better than everyone on the planet, and it showed on the court.

+1. LeBrons size alone would give Jordan pause.

People would always compare Lebron with Jordan/Kobe. Back before he won any rings there was no way Lebron was on their level. But after Lebron won a couple ring and reaching his prime, he is a whole different animal. Jordan is still better IMO. But I would take Lebron over Kobe.

Mj can't really be compared to anyone in professional sports, much less basketball. Also, remember that he was in the NBA at a time when it exploded on a global level and was at it's height, then factor in the entire Air Jordan legacy, the dunk contest, the defensive wins and the all star wins as well as the Dream Teams (that were at the time legendary).
To be fair, Shaq would NOT have won those three titles without Kobe.

Come on Jordan complained plenty. He even slapped teammates around.

MJ also dominated in an era where the big man dominated the game. Mike really didn't have much competition at the 2 guard spot.

Disagree with this 100%. If it weren't for Kobe's ego, he'd be half the player he is. His ego is what drives him to want to step on his enemies throat and dominate the game. His drive, led by his ego, is Kobe's biggest strength.

Down to the wire, I'm taking Jordon, and then Kobe. Lebron isn't in the conversation for me.
