I had 2017 Cadillac XTS for a few days while my work car was undergoing a warranty repair. The interior was actually pretty nice, although GM's CUE infotainment system is maddening to say the least. The car drove like a couch too. It wasn't bad for what it was.

My local BMW dealer carries X3, 328i and 535i. So he always ask me what I wan and I usually go with 5 series.

I got a 440 xdrive vert while my M2 is in the shop.
At least it's got the N55 and I'm enjoying all the funny looks of driving with the top down while it's snowing like crazy in Minneapolis today. I did receive a 550 from this dealer a few years ago but once I knew how much it cost I was almost afraid to drive it. |

The best BMW loaner I ever got was probably a 550i. At the least it was definitely the most expensive loaner I received. Typically I get a 328/330i, which I can't complain about.
On the other end of the spectrum was a X1 FWD. Not a bad car per se, especially for the uninitiated, but a pretty bad BMW in the driving dynamics department. |

My favorite from a couple years ago was a 328 convertible. It was this dark blue color with a saddle brown interior. I felt pretty cool driving it around--took my nieces for a joyride and pics.

A loaded 540i M-sport,couple of months after they were released.I definitely didn't want to return that one.My F30 felt like a car from the 19th century after driving the 5er
Coincidentally,I also was one of the first ones to test drive the same car when it was just delivered to the dealer Last edited by elbmw; 01-23-2018 at 05:14 PM.. |

So the dealer had to keep my car overnight because they had a million cars in the cue even though I got there first thing in the morning and got a loaner as I had a reservation. They literally had the entire floor of the parking structure filled with customer cars waiting to be serviced. The free maintenance means everyone brings their car to the dealer and no one takes it to an Indy for the first 3-4 years or 36-50k miles which may explain the backlog. They must have at least 50% of these customers in loan cars which makes for a whole lot of loan cars as well! I was getting an alignment and a free tire due to a nail. I will definitely not be doing the shuttle thing and will only do loan cars from now on. At this rate we may all be getting Ford focuses from enterprise in the future rather than bimmers.

7 series. Brand new dealership and I was their first customer far before the construction was finished.
I loved how the seatbelts gave a securing tug once started and as I was driving off. |

Got a F10 535i once when I took my E60 M5 in for service. Then this past year I got a 440 Gran Coupe when I took my F10 M5 a few months ago.

BMW always gives me an X1 or a 320, but when I had my E550 and the Benz dealer knew I was about to buy a new car they gave me a CLS63 AMG

Best was an Uber (Prius maybe?!?) I caught when I got fed up with the dealer’s crappy shuttle. Dealer here has 2+ week backlog on loaners so unless your service is planned well in advance, g’luck.
Shame, ‘cause they could be using it as a marketing tool. I was always tempted to get a newer Infiniti when I brought in the G35 cause I always got a nice new model year loaner |

When getting my smart car serviced, both local dealers generally loans out brand new loaded C/E Class sedans/coupes.
Sadly, I don't find them especially impressive or pleasurable to drive.

Cadillac ATS (when my Hummer was in for a recall). BMW should learn from Cadillac on how to build a driver's car.
