I don't know anything about GA lien law, but it would be really low of this supplier to maintain the lien if you provide proof of your payment to the contractor. It would, however, be par for the course. At least you now know to demand a lien waiver in the future.
Check out this site that talks about recent changes to the GA lien law: http://www.galienrights.com/. It looks like you and/or your attorney may want to consider sending a "Notice of Contest" to the supplier.
