Really dig the styling on this new Z and love the Blue on Blue combo. Looking forward to the Nismo version.
Looking to buy this or new GR86 in next year or 2 to get back a manual car in the fleet. |

I'm a fan. This is a winner for me. My only major gripe is the fact that they took the time and design effort to use one of the 3 center stack gauges for turbo speed. Really? Over something like oil temp? Useless. I guess it's in the digital cluster, but still.
But man, wish I was in the market for something like this. Good time to be a shopper in the 45-50k range. I loved my HR 350z when I had it, and would gladly add this to my garage as a keeper if I had the space for it. Something tells me the fact that they simply called it the "Z" means this is the swan song for the model. So far, to me it's looking like an worthy execution of a final generation model.

it doesn't look quite as good as the proto (never does!)
the rear quarter panel treatment on the production model is not quite as clean and flowing as the proto... I also don't like the little rear spoiler, hopefully there is a rear spoiler delete option but overall a much better looking car than the supra and it comes in a manual! |

Truth, but it does get people talking about the brand, I mean we are talking about it, and likely entice people to the showrooms again.

They're positioning it as a "halo car" for Nissan. So it gets people's attention, gets people interested in Nissan as a brand, and there's a sense of "trickle down" into Nissan's other models.

Looks much better in the blue color. I realize they could only do so much with the interior but it does keep a lot of dated cues unfortunately. I would probably be more excited if I didn't dislike the 370Z so much. I can't remember a car that ever disappointed me as much after a test drive. I couldn't get out of the dealership fast enough after handing the keys back to the salesman.

I like it a lot, but not sure I would take it over a Mustang GT or Camaro SS. Seems like you get a lot more car for the money with those at the $40k price point.
370z Nismo runs a 3:12 at VIR, while the Ecoboost Mustang PP and Camaro V6 1LE both run a 3:04. A 50hp boost with the 400z should close the gap on the non-V8 cars, but I don't see how it will be competitive with the V8s when they have 80+ HP on it. |

I was getting out of a lemon Mustang GT at the time and ended up settling on a Subaru WRX STI. This was in 2013 but I don’t think the 370Z changed a lot over the course of its life span. The transmission and ride of the STI was far superior and the transmission was key because one of the major issues with my Mustang was the junk manual transmission and the feel of the 370Z tranny gave me MT82 vibes.
