Smart approach. I'm in my late 20s and I like learning from other people. Don't want to be in pain later in life.

I came from being 5"10.5 260lbs and I dropped down to 190 solid . From straight conditioning determination from a long 10 hour shift at work to a 3 hour training session after to a bike ride to calm my thoughts. I did this because I knew myself I loved adventure and to hike to surf to snowboard and most of all just see the world. Being a relationship where I got comfortable led me to my drastic gain in weight, and I grew comfortable. With a break up I was like I'm never going through that again! And just continued to train for fun marathons like the spartan race and the tough mudder, stuff like that always makes me feel like I'm not just alone In the gym. It's always nice to become apart of something and to have hundreds and thousands of people training for the same goal to be the best version of them self . And now I just continue to do it everyday because , I wake up every morning and realize if I don't move my body and mind . I'll get stuck and the feeling of being in that stuck place gives me anxiety , and I'll take physical tiredness over that any day !

Im at a chubby 250. I kinda over bulked the last 6 months. Im going to take the next 3 months to get down to 205. My motivation currently is feeling a tub of butter around my stomach when I bend over to tie my damn shoes, and I don't like that.

I haven't lifted heavy heavy in years to each his own, been there and done that, not everyone that looks healthy is healthy.

What keeps me motivated? For me, its not just that I feel good when I am working out and in shape, but moreso thinking about my kiddos. I gotta be in good shape to keep-up with my boys. Lol...

Motivation for me comes from the fact I used to be overweight and now I'm in shape I never want to go back to how I was. It's not just about how I look either, the physiological and psychological benefits of being fit are countless. I guess that now I've lost the weight and am trying to pack on muscle outside motivation comes from fit and healthy 'celebrities' and also attention from the opposite sex.

My motivation comes from helping others and not putting myself first thinking the world revolves around me. I make it a habit to do something nice for someone every chance I get.

Started out as being fit but skinny and fairly strong aged 16, decided to add some weight; started out 9.25 stone, added 3 stone (42lbs); actually got a bit big to surf properly so trimmed a stone back off.

Then started running, seemed to be a natural, top 5 in a few big events. Did a triathlon, won it, did a few more, did well. Overdid the training, killed my immune system for a year; cut right back but still do plenty.

Now 40 and do home weights, trail run, surf loads (live at the beach), cycle and swim a bit. The years of weights means I can do some gymnastic upper body stuff that not many can do.

Not as competitive now but it's nice to have won a surf comp (recently), a tri and a local road run race (3.5 miles, 5m55s/mile average pace) plus placed well in a national kickboxing comp.

My aim to to maintain a very good power to weight ratio, retain a six pack but not worry much about appearance; that's for vanity driven young guys. And now my hair gets greyer, doesn't grow where it should but does grow where it shouldn't, exercise is my only "weapon!"

Motivation comes and goes. For me it's all about routine and consistency. I get up at 4:30 AM and I'm in the gym by 5:10 AM. Getting up on a cold snowy day is definitely demotivating, but I know if I skip I'll be disappointed with myself.
