Congrats.

I have to wonder though...the BMW SAVs have become pretty soft and squishy. I can't understand how those were too harsh.

Have to disagree there. Was literally at the Merc dealership yesterday and the new GLE has visibly more hard plastic in the cabin than the X5. The lower half of the doors are all the hard scratchy stuff. The plastic mounting beneath the seat has a massive gap between itself and the leather.

Merc interiors look more flashy than BMW/Audi but are a notch below in the quality dept.

They certainly weren't like my M4 was...but I wanted something even more comfortable, and TBH, going from the G01 to the X4 didn't feel like an upgrade given that the driver's interior is practically identical. I didn't like how narrow the seats are.

No more so than the Gran Coupe....I think we can all agree that it's a misnomer utilized by BMW and MB

According to one source I checked the difference is 0.7 inches. It is not only BMW and Mercedes who are doing this. It is becoming common as car makers abandon regular cars, they are trying to make their SUVs look like regular cars while harming the handling and increasing the price. Duh!

What are you even taking about? An x-drive gran coupe is jacked up a bit, but the cg should still be far lower due to not being a jacked up cuv like the Mercedes glc.

If you are comparing against a bmw, the x1/2 would seem appropriate.

The Coupe term has been so abused in the automotive industry it beggars belief. Yet the buying public seems to glorm to a vehicle design that's neither sporty nor practical.

Would you say this car started it all? The 2005 Mazda6 hatchback <ahem> gran coupe! It's so ahead of its time!

According to the Society of Automotive Engineers, a coupe is defined as being a car that has an interior space of less than 33 cubic feet while a sedan is equal to or greater than 33 cubic feet.

Copy pasted from google.. also to note the number of doors does not matter & a fixed top of course.

We often pay more for less (cubic feet) lol

what exactly is the attraction of high cg and decreased utility vehicle? Why not E class or 5 series, or x5/ML?

GL with your purchase!

Those of us with bad backs got tired of climbing in and out of our M4s. Plus I'm an empty nester. All the extra space of the X3 was unnecessary and redundant. If I need more space my wife has her '17 Mazda CX-5.

It was a round about way. Traded it in on a new Tesla for about 18 months and then got the M40i.

MB was a nice car. I really liked the Cush ride. But I got the EV bug which was the Model Y. I got rid of the Y several reasons, but I knew I’d come back to the. BMW fam. Gotta say, I forgot how gratifying the exhaust note is. On the plus side, I had my garage wired for and installed the Tesla charger which could make it a selling point now that many brands are adopting the charger plug.
