I've met a few Tesla owners, and agree with your statement - most are not real car guys in the way many on this board are car guys.

Sorry for the off-topic...back to the monster that is the Demon. It is badass car, can't wait to see and hear one in person.

335i's have issues running 10s with stock drive train let alone even thinking about 9s an none have ever run a 9 anything. It doesn't matter that its beefed up, because at the end of the day that 0 miles car comes ready to run a 9s car, not a car that someone put a after market warranty on and hope the car is covered.

SO NO, NO GERMAN SEDAN IS TOUCHING A DEMON IN 1/4

I used to sell Teslas in college and really started feeling this way quickly. Nothing wrong with being a techie who likes Teslas, but I couldn't handle the smugness of a lot of them.

Now back on topic...

I agree. These were my thoughts when DCT's/SMG's started appearing. Nothing against those who chose automatics, but when the production numbers soared along with the intro of autos, it was clear that a different type emerged among the enthusiasts.

But at the end of the day, its just another boring, run of mill, 3 series BMW with zero character or appeal. You can make anything fast.

Either way. How many production cars can run 9s in the 1/4 mile, completely stock (literally stock because it comes with skinny tires for the front and drag radials for the rear) and with a warranty? 1....the Demon.

They really revised the suspension, worked the engine and are giving the tools to us to do so.

I'm still surprised that it can do 9.65 being how heavy it is. But the gearing, tires and suspension really does seem to work.

If you run 9.99 or faster at a NHRA track, then you have to get a NHRA license and safety equipment installed. Which I could only assume is a roll cage.

One big difference between the ultra-modified 3 series and this car is that the demon will handle 800+ horsepower more reliably since it is coming from the factory and has probably gone through more extensive testing considering they will have to warranty it.

And since it was designed around drag radials and they are comfortable talking about buyer putting slicks on the car, it must have pretty sturdy components.

I don't suppose it ships with the second set of front wheels/tires? Assuming not, presumably putting the heavier 315s on would slow it down a touch.

You know the Civic crowd can say the same about the BMW... The moment you bring aftermarket into the equation, then it will become a very different conversation.

You can make ANYTHING fast with enough $$.
