That’s what makes the world go round. I drove several sports cars prior to buying my Z06 and my Z06 gave me the most excitement to drive. I think for me it’s the pure need for speed that did it. I drove a 911 gets manual and would not trade my z06 for it

I think the F87 was a little less numb. In factory form the G87 power steering, manual shifting feel and turn in feel pretty mediocre. Power and deliver is better, ability to put power down is better. I have not put wider tires on the car yet, but will be doing full suspension bushings on it shortly to try and take out that slop.

I would say it's more of a mild evolution over a revolution. I'd say the G87 is more fun to drive than my C7 Z06 ever was.

Can't really take you serious after that. Pretty much every modern corvette before the C7 had horrendous interiors. That's what kept me from buying a corvette until the C7.

I prefer the C7 over the C8. The used C8s I’ve looked at all had some sort of fit and finish issues like inconsistent panel gaps (rubbing paint off around the headlight), the stitching not aligned properly or straight, loose mirror and so on. It’s also physically bigger than a C7 and you really need a rear spoiler to help it look proportionately correct. And as said above, you really need the Z51 package if you expect to drive like any normal sports car driver would. I’m really tempted by the ERay but keep reminding myself about all those problems, plus the early teething issues they had. Maybe they have fixed a bunch of stuff, not sure.

I had no idea they had so many fit and finish issues, that is the difference between GM and the super cars……. I still love my C7 but I never considered it a super car

The C7 interior was more stylized, but everything felt cheap to me. It looks like a modern version of the C4 interior, which is a good thing, but it just felt cheap.

My centennial C6 GS on the other hand feels good, looks ok, and outside of some parts that date it (HVAC controls and nav radio), feels pretty robust. Mine has the 4LT Centennial interior with suede and red stitching everywhere, so it's definitely a step above the standard cars.

Yeah no sorry, every American car of that era had horrible looking AND cheap interiors. You can argue if the C7 materials were cheap or what not, I had a 3LT and everything seemed pretty nice to me. I'm sure there was some plastic somewhere, but it was light years ahead of any previous model and the C8 is even nicer inside than the C7 IMO (although I prefer the C7 overall plus no manual would be a deal breaker on the C8 for me).

That being said it was their first major interior redesign in decades AND it was still a reasonably priced American car... so I'm not expecting European luxury interior here, but it went from no fucking way I'm sitting in that thing every day... to hmmm that's pretty nice. The same thing with the Camaro. I bought a 2016 because that was the first model to have an acceptable interior. Was it amazing, fuck no, but it was waaaaaaaay better than anything before it.

It's amazing how poorly US interiors have aged. I am considering a sub 10K beater as my current DD needs work but dear jesus the interior of say a 2015 equinox is just insanely bad.

No, it wasn't as nice inside as an E92 M3. But it also was way cheaper, was reliable, and smashed it in terms of performance. No doubt a lot of that cost savings came from the interior. I was fine with that, and still am.

Good point about the 4LT Centennial interior though. I upgraded my 1LT C6 with some Centennial pieces and it made a big difference.

Agreed. I think the main point being missed here;

The C6 DID have a cheap interior but it did so with slightly better materials and didn't just fall apart as soon as you looked at it. It was unapologetically what it was and that's it with a low price.

The C7 has a cooler LOOKING interior, but everything was lower quality. I remember how shit the alcantara was in there, pulling up and falling off after cooking just a little in the AZ sun. The c6 never did that. I actually have zero pics of my 3lt z06 interior, just exterior shots because the interior was so bad.

Pre C7 they were all made out of the same material EVERY American car was made out of. I swear every American manufacturer used the same buttons, switches and dials for EVERY single car they made. They had been making the same shit for decades so I'm sure the 2 button options were fairly solid by then. The C7 was totally new so it would make sense some stuff needed to be dialed in.

I had the dash leather coming up issues on my C7 (fixed before I bought it) but from what I recall reading at the time it was a common issue with GM leather dashes. I also had a 2014 Cadillac XTS with extended leather and didn't have issues with that one while I owned it. I would say the interior on that one was several steps above the C7 but it's also a luxury sedan with a higher starting MSRP.

Had 2 C6’s an 07 Z51 1LT and 06Z with 2LZ, interior in the C6 was crap. Say hello to Chevy Malibu/Cobalt etc steering wheel….traction control button was the silhouette of the C5 rear end.
The C6 was universally panned for its interior and rightfully so. A few unique changes and it could have been much improved. But the bottom of the barrel parts bin sharing was blatantly obvious.

They got a lot better in 08. If they had come with the 4LT interior out of my 2012 when introduced, nobody would have said a word about the interior.
