Usually one or more applies to owners of raised trucks;

-wears ball cap all the time
-mullet hairstyle
-napoleon complex
-goes by Cooter, Jeb, Quaid, Roscoe, Ace, Bob
-has one of those stickers of a kid urinating on a Ford or Chevy logo on his back window
-truck nutz hanging from the hitch
-urban cowboy who's raised truck with big wheels has paint more immaculate than most sports cars
-doesn't know what a turn signal stalk is for
-drives over train tracks slower and more gently than drivers of slammed vehicles

I hate to group a bunch of individuals but it's really hard to find a lifted truck owner that doesn't fit in the stereotype somehow.

I hate trucks and SUVs but only because I can’t see around them.

But, I don’t hate their owners. Trucks are a logical choice if you want visibility, safety in the most common longitudinal collisions and need hauling and towing options. Barring runaway energy prices I only see that market growing.

Personally I like to be low and nimble. Also I’m short and nothing looks dumber than a giant truck pulling up and a little squatting guy jumping out of it. Or sometimes worse, climbing into it. Err or trying to.

Agreed, unfortunately driving these vehicles around make our smaller cars more dangerous because of misaligned bumpers and greater mass in general hurling around at the same speeds. There's a reason passenger cars keep piling on the pounds and it isn't electronics.

I went from an E60 530i to a Lincoln Navigator for almost 5 years. It served its purpose with kids and travel, but I found myself going back to a G30 after a year of driving it mostly empty. Plus the Nav transmission failed at 100,000 miles, probably from my "spirited" BMW style of driving...

My wife drives an SUV, and when we need to haul large items that is what we use.

It is especially true to a specific brand of truck owners, I find RAM owners the worst, the type to drive like absolute douchebags, are almost always a RAM owner around here.

I tried truck ownership for about 2 years and I had no regrets. Granted, I didn't sell anything to get my 2016 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. The vehicle was wonderful to own. Comfy, more room than a G07, ability to haul and tow anything I'd ever want (rare occasion, but still), didn't have to avoid pot holes ect ect..

If I get an electric vehicle in the future, there's a big likelihood it'll be an electric truck as it suits my needs perfectly.

I think part of it is that the overlanding image is the cool thing right now. I’m sure there’s lots of people who have ditched their 435i for a Taco or Jeep and headed off-road.

i hate them because their headlights are pretty much at the level of my face. i rented two cars in cali, at night its nothing but LED lights at my eye level or in my side view mirror reflecting into my face.

Living in MN, I chuckle at the folks who go out and trade their plenty capable SUV/SAV on a $60k megacab shortbox because they need to tow their 5k lb boat...

Maybe it's because I grew up in the sticks, but I don't see the point of a truck that's a short box. Or 2wd.

I do enjoy myself a tastefully built off-road rig. I don't mean the redneck mall-crawlers that only see dirt roads, but a true purpose built trail rig.

Personally there would be less to worry about with a truck then my X7. I sometimes end up taking my Wrangler because I’m afraid someone will damage my X7 or even key it. A pickup truck is almost always under the radar even if it does cost $80k.

BMWs stick out like a sore thumb in rural America as these days everything is becoming a political or class statement.
There’s no logic to it. A $300,000 class A RV pulling into a campground, nice rig comments. An X7 pulling in with an Airstream, ehhh.

They probably have ditched the 435i for those, but I would bet they haven't actually headed off road.

So many Taco's and Jeeps kitted out for off road in my area of SoCal, but they only drive to work and to run errands.

It's interesting, I see these giant trucks towing people's boats...the same boat model we towed 20 years ago, but we evidently didn't need such a giant truck to do it.

Everyone thinks they need to be able to tow 20,000lbs, carry 8 people, drag race, and do the baja off-road all in the same vehicle.

That said, there are distinct ergonomic benefits to SUVs and trucks, as long as they are not monster lifted trucks. This a much as anything is killing off cars unfortunately.

So what? Let them sell and buy whatever makes their lives easier. Some people actually purchase, and enjoy, mini-vans but I NEVER would. That doesn't mean I care what they drive. If they want a pick up truck....let them park it in front of their trailer and enjoy life to their fullest extent.

Anybody trading in a sporty German car for a truck was never an enthusiast to begin with. Good riddance.

I understand why people get trucks but dislike them myself. They are too large, a menace on roads, and majority of the owners are assholes. If by some odd chance I develop a hobby for the outdoors and subsequently need to carry/tow stuff I'd consider a truck, but otherwise I'll never drive one.
