Same thoughts. The new Stingray and Z28 are incredible machines that destroy some of Europe's best counterpoints. They aren't my cup of tea, for numerous reasons, but I love that something in the US is FINALLY coming close to upsetting the status quo.

I only wish GM would improve the rest of the line up.

Next year, I'm looking forward to the new Mustang entering the competition. Either in GT or Shelby form.

I was reading the most recent article about a ZR1 mid-engine, maybe by 2017. GM is already hard at work on the C8, which will be mid-engine. ZR1 will use the chassis early, with the C8 coming out towards the end of the decade.

The same article said the next gen Camaro is going to be a lot lighter and will surely start to creep into the Vette performance territory. Giving GM even more reason to switch the Vette to a mid-engine layout and give the car a more upscale exotic car feel.

What if both cars were presented with the same weight/size wheels and the same tires?

The Z/28 is no doubt, an amazing car, it is equipped (standard) with excellent lightweight wheels and excellent r-comp tires, and the wheels are sprayed with a gritty coating around the barrel to provide better grip between the wheel and the tire. A lot of similar cars are not graced with this caliber of wheel/tire combo and it makes it hard for me to think seriously about these reviews knowing as an enthusiast I would be changing it all immediately to better kit if the tires suck.

Watch the video. They invited them, they didn't supply a car and you heard the sound effect of a chicken

Which is weird because I think both of those cars would have smoked the field. 458 in particular was probably a near shoo-in.

...but maybe they heard about the 918 epilogue then errbody ducked down.

Or they probably figured the GT3 would be there which they both would have lost to also.

I did, i heard the sound, that part was funny. Really wonder WHY. I really do not see any of 10 cars getting close to the 458 but I could be wrong, hopefully next year they can prove me wrong or right. I think if they mix all years best driver cars, the 458 Italia winner of 2011, will probably still be the beat driver cars.

Then what will that show? You'll have to change the wheel and tire combo on your car just to make it go a little faster around a track? Tell me how many people would do that. They show what these cars do stock for stock.

This "regular" car magazine actually has done a tire swap on other tests so all cars are on a "equal" stand point. But to me that shows nothing. Show what the cars do completely stock and I'll be impressed.

This magazine also swapped the 1LE and Z/28 tires. Swapping stock tires on both to see how each handles the others. It helped the 1LE is some things but on the figure 8, it still ran the exact same time. The Z/28 was down but I would expect so, going from a 305 square setup to the 1LEs 275s.....Motor Trend is probably the best in the business with car reviews, test and comparisons.

Compare the machines not the tires. That's what it shows. Dunno why you don't get that but it's obviously a point we don't agree on. That's ok.

What tires a car comes with from the factory isn't what I consider a modifiable component. Tires are an accessory which hugely impact performance, comfort, compliance, and noise in huge ways.

Again, you seem to be in a huge fuss and I want to make it clear: This was not an attempt to downplay the engineering that went into the Z/28. It's one of the rare cars that actually got the setup it needs. So many other cars just DON'T.

Thanks for trolling.

You could still put the same tire on there and get a better comparison than most of the BS reviews. Read one the other day where one car was on R-comps stock and the other was on HP Runflats. I mean, seriously?

You are the one trolling a thread about the Z/28, yammering on about tires. When this test was 100% subjective, based on the car's emotional driving experience.

If it's subjective it's not a test or a trial. Because science. Oh nevermind that.

Also. The car is incapable of having an emotional driving experience. The driver on the otherhand is entirely capable of having an emotional response.

Hey, you wanted me to troll. Have fun dumbass.

I went to the dealer and looked at the Camaro. Pretty Beastly badass car.

It even has a dry sump oil system!
