That's like 40+ miles!! I'd be useless afterwards. No mountains just beach paths here though. No need for wide tires, lol.

I don't do long rides like that everyday, that's for sure as I mainly do 10 and 15 kilometers daily runs and now doing 20s in preparation of my Half next week.

Off Topic is goofy in that it renders no results under search (really stupid) nor counts as "real" posts.

So it`s been a month since i`ve been out - Got Bike Park Wales on the 6th which I usually take the go pro too.

Anyway, my bud joined me at my local, he hasn't done gaps before and accidentally followed me over a whale tail. He went straight back up and I photoed/recorded this lovely file for him.

I`ll add the video when i work out how to do that.....

These views are stunning. Best part of biking is the passing view and that adrenaline rush you get!

Mountain biking around here looks a bit different than most places. I took this shot on the weekend.

I would highly recommend Fire Mountain. Most of the trail is hard packed dirt with minimal rocks or vines. There are a lot of smooth flowy sections that you can pump through and really pick up speed. A lot of work has been done on the berms, too so you can really carry a lot of speed through the switchbacks. If you do go, I would ride Spearfinger to the top and then take Kessel Run down. There's also a skills course half way down that is fun to ride if you like drops, jumps and features.

I`d say so Hardtail as well so i`m sure they felt it! Seen a few lads do this at my local too - the loud crack always turns heads

I`d love to ride down that - I have to travel so far to get some elevation and we don`t have much that I know about that would match that!

When I obtained the Trek hybrid that lives in my race car hauler as a paddock bike, it came with pedals meant for clip-on shoes that did not work with my weekend walking/driving shoes. I replaced them with some cheap billet aluminum pedals from an online store. Great for working with normal shoes, but they had threaded studs protruding from them as traction aids that would draw blood like a grater if your foot slipped off the wrong way. Ask me how I know!

As I am waiting for the cheapo Amazon e-MTB that I ordered on a whim to arrive via ground shipping from the west coast, I was reading the comments for it and everyone suggested ditching the included pedals for something bigger. So, I picked up a set of 3-bearing billet aluminum pedals from Amazon, and they also have threaded screw-in skin ripper studs sticking out of them. I spent nearly a half hour this afternoon with a T15 Torx driver in hand, breaking the blue thread lock and removing all of those studs.

My question is whether or not I will have traction issues wearing sneakers without those studs in place? Should I pick up some self-adhesive sandpaper traction tape or outdoor rubber anti-slip tape for the pedal platforms? I'm not going off-road or doing anything crazy, just riding up and down our street trying not to hurt myself to get out of our house for a few minutes.....

If you are ridding flat like you say up and down the street, then sure, take out the pins

If you are riding stuff like Damack then keep the pins and get some proper MTB shoes

If you do find yourself slipping you could try the other options or buy shorter pins and wind them in as much as possible.

We've all been there

All new! Finally took the plunge and bought a mountain bike to go with my drop bar bikes.

My original Klein hardtail rebuilt

Out of all my bikes this one is so special to me. Originally purchased the bike in 2002, frame cracked and new one supplied in 2005 under warranty. I rebuilt it totally at that point, my dream build with Pace carbon forks, full xtr set including wheels.
Fast forward to 2018 and rebuilt again with a custom pearl white paint from Enigma bikes/London. Once again full xtr but mavic crossmax wheels. Still has original thomson post and stem, what a product.
Lived in LA for a few years so had it over in the states.
Amazing bike, only now use it when I go to Europe on cycling trips as my cruise about bike when I'm not on the Full suspension doing trails.

It hasn't rained here in sometime and it was a hot morning, which means the trails are dry. So I'm off the pavement today and onto this Epic Evo:

I was a regular rider back before kids, and even after the first kid...

The first pic is my old bike from a long time ago, about 10,000ft elevation above Tahoe, I had no intention of going that far alone, but the ride was so good, then I noticed the lack of air...and how far away I was from everything, and that my phone didn't work up there and got nervous and carefully headed down the hill

Second pic is my E-Bike (not expecting any love here) but it is so much fun, and it gets me back on the trail. I basically use the motor to keep my heartrate at a reasonable level. Where I live and ride EVERY trail is dead vertical at the beginning and then you get into some nice terrain.
