the way i see it, EV is like a cheat code, reaching numbers that would be hard to reach in a gas powered car. imo it’s still cheating(not tryna call EV owners cheaters here, sorry &#128514 and cheating is still unfun for the people who still appreciate the fun of gas cars. (although, in EV there is no more $5/gallon &#128514

interesting they want to spend R&D money on this. sedans and even performance sedans are a dying market, especially for EVs

Audi E-Tron GT, Taycan are not selling well and depreciate so fast.

Lucid barely sells any, EQE/EQS have effectively been canceled from a future gen in current form, Model S barely has any sales either

Think you need to replace your "or" with an "and"... they've already been giving ///M mirrors to ///M-light cars... though I suppose they also put the S58s in aplinas (we could probably excuse that), and had the N55 in the OG ///M2 along with the N54 in the 1///M (another separate debate for it being an ///M car of course).

I doubt it costs much to literally just put a motor on each wheel. I remember seeing that video last year of some car just spinning in circles.

Why can't we just have a 500hp, long range but lighter sedan. No need for 1300 hp. Idiot drivers can't handle 500 with slight turbo lag. I can't imagine the accidents with instant torque and 1,300 Hp and 7000lb vehicles. Sign, I'm the grumpy old man who yearns for the old days.....

I would like to see a BMW EV sports coupe...3,500lbs max, 400hp, RWD single motor, 300mile range. Not sure if current battery technology can even produce that. Cayman EV is coming, will be interesting to see the specs.

The market for a super sedan like this is so small. But eventually it will be the M3 replacement.

Maybe check out the beginning of this video where Biermann (former M Boss) discusses how he put the Hyundai Ioniq 5N into production, and how he embraced BEVs, but with a focus on driver/track-focused development. He is retiring at the end of the year, so he did not have to do this if he wasn't convinced it was the way forward...
