Couldn't see that on my tablet. I'm surprised if they're only 18's because they look out of proportion. Maybe it's just the 'seventies design and it seems to ride high because the wheel wells weren't designed to accommodate that diameter. Maybe it would look better if they went +1 or +2, using a bigger wheel but lower profile tire so the outside diameter stays closer to stock.

Are we certain it's fake carbon fiber and fake wood trim? I'm not digging either but you'd think a car for a person of his means would have nothing but the best.

BMW needs to return to putting roundels on C-pillars. It's not on any current model as far as I can tell from the BMW USA site.

There are a bunch of articles about the car, i.e.

https://money.yahoo.com/amphtml/chec...020005972.html

"...the original beltline molding done in hydro-dipped woodgrain – ditto the custom machined rear spoiler. Downey requested those alterations to match the interior. That gray wood tone appears on the Nardi steering wheel and dashboard fascia, pairing beautifully with coffee-colored upholstery that boasts woven seat centers and door panels. We do wonder how much authentic wood trim would have cost, though."

Even though I prefer classic original, I don't mind the "window surrounds done in Cerakote titanium gray"

I love this car and all E9s. Such an elegant design with great lines. Plus, the kidneys are properly small!

The car is gorgeous but now that I know it's fake wood print on plastic film it's lot most of it's charm for me.

A great classic 1972 3.0CSi was heavily featured in the movie The Art of Racing in the Rain.

Some pictures: https://productplacementblog.com/mov...the-rain-2019/

Other BMW content: Main (human) character was a race car driver and Turner Motorsports was featured: https://turnerservice.com/the-art-of...g-in-the-rain/

I want to see that movie but the book was so sad. Haha. There is also a nice coupe in Knives out.

Whoops! One of the few cars on BMWUSA that I didn't check. Too bad it's not on more models. I do like the C-pillar roundel.

IMO: enough straight classics out there, this was likely not a stock/intact specimen originally. This is a crazy cool car and I'D DRIVE IT.

As far as celebrity car goes, this is pretty tasteful. I do not like the wood trim either, but it's not so in-your-face as to ruin the whole thing.

I think it's a shame he put an auto in it, should have a 3 pedal set up.
