My kids are grown up now, and have all moved out apart from the youngest.

I've had similar feelings in the past when the kids were young. But, it's funny, now they're gone, I do miss the noise, activity, and chaos that they used to bring to the house. Kinda makes me a little melancholy thinking back...

Make the most of it, fella. They'll be grown up and gone sooner than you know.

Same here. My dad taught me a lot, much of it by example. Dad died unexpectedly at the young age of 55, suddenly leaving me the head of the family at age 32. That was 41 years ago and I still miss him. I deeply regret that he didn't get to see his grandchildren grow up and flourish.

I hope all the dads out there had a wonderful Father's Day. I had a great day and did exactly what I wanted all day... which turned out to be more work around the house than I planned but now I'm relaxing on the deck with my third??? beer. It's a gorgeous evening with clear skies, 25c and a light breeze. It couldn't have been a better day.
