I appreciate the car as an exercise in engineering. I tend to appreciate doing more with less though. Less weight, less horsepower, less cost, even it it simply comes close. There is a point of diminishing returns.

OTOH, all the best tech finds its way into cars that most of us can (eventually) afford, so there is that.

I can't wait to see what problems this car will have given GM's past with the C.

Hell yeah. I agree!! Props to them. Just waiting on all the vids of them being wrapped around some trees plus, most people are going to add to that power ASAP. Imagine these full bolt
On with E-85!!!! Again, AWD would have been amazing. Please make the E-Ray with this set up. Thank you!!!!!

i think people will handle it fine. its gonna be boost by gear (probably without any over ride) and good traction control. by the time you get to 3rd or 4th gear and it gives you the full 1000 (or 800whp ) most people will have already chickened out.

i am a little disappointed in the weight though being 3900+ pounds. despite the 1000hp its about the same power/weight as a mclaren 750. still quite an achievement being much much cheaper than that car.

Lost me at turbo. Even if it wasn't it just doesn't appeal to me. The standard C8 has way more than enough power. If it came in a manual I would probably have gotten a C8.

Looking forward to gapping them in my 720 and then my 750 when it comes.

Power sure, but no carbon tub. Hopefully I still get an allocation for one, but with how ugly they are, will probably just resell it

Here I'm thinking that the E9x M3 has more then enough power to get the majority of people into trouble.

Being a "car guy" I love that manufacturers are playing the horse power game.
Being a "in a car accident guy" has me terrified that the manufacturers are playing the horse power game.

Such a conflicting feeling.

I don't see what the big worry about traction is. The C8 weight distribution is more biased rearward than most MR cars and at 3900lbs, it puts a lot of weight over the rear tires.

Plus, it'll have torque limitation in the first 2-3 gears plus PTM, TC/AH, etc, etc.

According to Chevy it'll trap around 150mph. On par with the 7xx McLarens. Their times with the Stingray, E-Ray, and Z06 were repeatable. Should be the same here.

I wish they'd put this motor in a Tahoe. As cool as a 1000hp C8 is tonsom people it has no use to me, lol. A 1000hp Tahoe however, would be something I could drive every day.

flat plane crank engines wouldn't be good for a heavy truck/suv where people dont want engine vibrations coming into the cabin.

I feel like anyone buying that sort of a vehicle would kinda expect that going in and say "well, I can deal with it for the 1000hp". I would, lol.

As the new ZR-1 has apparently gone 9's in the 1/4 mile, according to developers, apparently traction is not a huge problem.
