Kansas City BBQ. There was a kitchen fire in 2008 that gutted the entire interior of the building and all the Top Gun memorabilia was destroyed, but the owner rebuilt it and re-opened it later that year.

I've been in San Diego since 1985 and my dad was stationed at Miramar, when it was a Navy base, so I've seen the "Fightertown USA" hangar a handful of times. I love the movie and as I got older and learned about all the locations that were used for filming, it was actually spread out around San Diego County. From Downtown SD and up to Oceanside, which is about 45 minutes to an hour drive. I assumed, as a kid, that it was all shot in and around the Miramar area.

That being said, I can't wait for this to come out!

yup! I remember how cool it was when driving up the 15 and a F14 Tomcat would literally fly right over really low over the freeway when coming in for a landing. seemed like you can reach up and touch it as you look up through the sun roof!

When I was watching the Ghostrider clip above, YouTube threw in a suggested video of the Tomcat-versus-faux-Zero dog fight from "The Final Countdown." I love how the Tomcats had to fly wings-out and slalom back and forth to slow down to propeller-driven airplane speeds.....

I immediately thought of the Great Marianas Turkey Shoot. They were able to completely defang the Japanese fleets Zeros with another Grumman aircraft the real Hellcat.

I had a cool experience yesterday while driving north on the 95 in Nevada. Seeing something off in the distance, coming straight at us, and about a 100 feet off the ground.

It was a F-22 Raptor, as soon as it was directly above us it pulled up, veered to our left, and then we heard the roar of the engines

Thanks to the pilot for the awesome experience!

Not much better than the sound of a fighter jet on the noise.

We have one of our major Air Force bases about 30 minutes away and we see them all the time buzzing around.

Up until about six months ago it was just Hornets, now we’re seeing the new F35’s.

Saw an F35 up and close. But not what most would think. It was just the fuselage sitting on a flat bed trailer being hauled around of all places on I495 on the outer loop of the Capital beltway heading towards Virginia on the Maryland side. I didn't realize how big those things are until I was right next to it. Too bad I didn't take a picture of it. Not sure where the trucker was hauling the thing.

Here in OH I see quite a few F16's... I think they're F16's doing flybys and they sounded stooped ridiculous!

We have a local Naval Air Station here which is a joint navy/Air Force reserve base so frequent flights over the city. Once on a local chat board someone asked about the noise and why there were so many military planes flying around... the first response shut her down, “it’s the sound of freedom”!
