I’m sure (hoping?) that it is just a trick with the camera, but it that god awful grill different sized between left and right?

I’d hate to think that it is like the dark star in the 5th element, and it is actually growing larger, being fed on our hate.

Already hating the i5 but digging that x7? Sounds like you may be due for en eye re-examination...

The reason is financial. Virtually every mainstream car company has to broaden their market and appeal to as many segments as possible to stay financially stable. Porsche, Mercedes, Jaguar, are all mainstream car companies today.

Hating "i" anything but been waiting for a bmw replacement for my GL. Not my excited by the looks, I'm excited by the idea and potential for performance. As for any "i" car, just the fact that they spent a dime in developing it means one less dime spent developing real cars.

The X7 is really growing on me. I hated it at first, but I had the same first impression of the E60. Sometimes good design needs time before it's appreciated.

I need to see it in person to judge. Not a fan of the paint color of the demo though.

Nice cars, but what really excites me is the surprise EV car, either it's the i5 or a 3-/4-series EV concept. That's gonna be the big star of the show and well done BMW for keeping it safe, yet!

Exact opposite for me. EV? Who the F*** cares. Angry to say it mildly they even are making them. And nobody wants them. You can get almost new i3 cars for 75% off sticker. Well bought when new tree huggers.

Broadening your market(s) is not an excuse for ugly design - my 2c.

Range Rover is going to thank BMW for the X7.
BMW cannot design large cars. The only nice design is the 6 series.

Anyone noticed the rear twilight on the E mini? Kind of resembles the English flag divided in half one on the right and one on the left.

Have you driven them? Super fun. I've had a 7 series, 5 series, and now 335i full bolt on. Did an extended test drive in an i3 a few years back and bought my wife one this year. I find excuses to drive her car now, and log far less miles in mine. To each his own, but your view (IMO) reflects an antiquated perspective of the future of automobiles. And you can be excited all day about technology and potential performance, but you specifically said the vehicle, not anything new it brings to the table. The thing is hideous. Just sayin.

There's only do much money they can put into R&D. Putting money into developing cars that don't make a profit and sell so few means the cars BMW is known for have less money for R&D and will advance less. The 3 series for decades was best of breed. Now with all the i research its just another car in a group. Sales are slumping too and no wonder. Maybe ev is the future, but its not the now, or the soon. Maybe in 5-10 years after other car makers have plowed the ground, real batteries are developed, charging times and range issues solved, think about them. But just because it's different doesn't mean it's better or the future. There's plenty of gas and climate change hoax is still not showing any tangible evidence after 20 years of bs. But then, that's not PC at the moment to say even if it is reality I guess.
