I would say getting a Rolex of any model today will hold it value... but getting highly desirable model that would double its money right away. will cost you $10K just to build you status to get those. Sub,GMT,Daytona..... unless you super lucky and get offered.

I'm not a superduper collector. but for collection 1. patek 2. Rolex

do not buy as a collector/investment piece , but buy it because you like it. unless you get offered to those pieces.
You can not lose with those 2.

And don't get vintage piece unless you know what you getting in to...

If you buy something with the expectation that it will go up in price after you buy it, then buy something that isn't being made anymore so that the price isn't artificially constrained by the price of something new. Think of it as the Porsche 911 market. Buy a 2021 GT3 and flip it or buy a 1998 and watch it increase in value but don't buy a 2018 and expect the price to go up anytime soon.
Very true. Unless you have a 5711.. you then are wearing a GT3 value on your wrist. LOL

Entry price can be higher, but there are Patek models which have doubled in value in the last 10-20 years. But many have held their value. Although the market is crazy at the moment. Hold onto the cash, as a time will come when you cash will buy a lot more. My opinion.
