The spectacular sparks in Formula 1 cars are caused by titanium blocks (called skid blocks) that are attached to the plank under the car. These skid blocks are intended to prevent the plank from being damaged. They protrude no more than 3 millimeters from the plank.

If a car sparks too much, the skid blocks will be measured by the FIA.
If there is too much wear on the skid blocks , it means that the car was running too low...
The car in question will be DSQ according to the FIA regulations .

LEW and Charlie were DSQ at the 2023 COTA GP..
