One is main, one controls the motor. The motor board had a popped solder joint. Apparently, one of the causes for the popped solder joint could be that the main control board is overloading the motor board. But the only way to tell is to put a functioning motor board back in the unit and see if it burns up. If it doesn't, it was just the motor board that was bad. If it does, now you have to replace the main board AND the brand new motor board.

Im not keen on doing a nearly $500 experiment, so I soldered in a jumper wire to close the circuit and put it back in the washer. During the test, as soon as the relay clicked to send power to the motor a pretty blue flash illuminated the under side of the washer and was accompanied by a fairly loud pop. Lol

As it turns out, both boards needed to be replaced to fix the washer, total cost? $860 to repair a 6 year old washer that cost $600 new. Really?!?!
