Since you are discussing rums, one of my favorites is Pampero, Aniversario. It is made in Venezuela, SA.

You need to try it - incredibly smooth. I find the overall reviews don't do it justice.

Another favorite from off the beaten path is Old Monk rum, believe it or not.

And my neighbor just came home from Kentucky, and brought some gifts.

Hell of a week so far...

I'll have to keep an eye out. I really like the Four Square offerings, Plantation XO, and Bumbu XO myself.

Don't get your hopes up too much, I was very disappointed with this. I actually prefer the younger Balvenie a lot more.

Friend is heading back down... His list to get me at the Buffalo distillery is

Buffalo trace SB
Eagle rare
Blanton's SB
Weller

Well see if I hit the grand slam. Blanton's has been hard to find up here.

Blanton's is really hard to find down here too. Buffalo, eagle and weller(as long as its not "12" ) is pretty easy. Plain old Buffalo or Eagle might be my favorite bourbon, I keep a few bottles of each at the house.

Just unfiltered IPAs - commonly referred to as "Northeast IPAs" since Heady Topper made the style popular. Usually very "juicy" and less piney hop notes. They're the "it" style of the moment. I'm not that much of a fan, in general, although Heady is a very good beer.

I find Blanton's to be a bit one-note, IMO.

Weller is over-hyped, obviously. I loved Weller Antique when you could get it for $25/bottle back in 2012 or so. Hell, I used to walk into the local liquor store and pick up Elijah Craig 18 for sub-$40 and it was always on the shelf. I should have bought cases of the stuff back then.

I agree that ER is probably my favorite every-day-drinker. BT is good, but not my favorite. I'd probably take 1792 over BT. ER is getting harder to find up here - although I just snagged 3 bottles at state min last week.

Decided to try Absinthe for the 1st time. Bought a spoon many years ago but never followed thru because it was still difficult to buy absinthe then

Just bought a bottle of Pernod Absinthe made in France and St. George Absinthe made in Alameda, CA. The Pernod is excellent; very smooth and easy to drink. The St. George has a much stronger, medicinal flavor and I do not enjoy it as much.

Have also been stocking up on some Islay single malts which are my favorite whiskeys. Current line up includes Lagavulin 16, Laphroig 10, Cao Ila 12, Ardbeg 10, Port Charlotte (Bruichladdich) 10 and Kilchoman Machir Bay. Also have a bottle of Talisker 10 made on Skye but very similar in taste/flavor to scotches made on Islay.

Also decided to try some different burbons other than JD. So, bought some Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare 10 (also made by Buffalo Trace) and some Woodward Reserve. The Eagle Rare is the best IMO among them.

And also decided to some different gins for my martinis, other than the Bombay Sapphire that I've always used, including Aviation, New Amsterdam, The Gin Factory and Junipero. I like Aviation the best among these.

Needless to say, I'm feeling no pain in the evenings. LOL!

Ah yes, it does make good trading fodder. The ECBP are definitely better for half the price.

RR store picks are usually really good from my experience.

Sticking with one of my new found regulars tonight, Old Forester Rye. 100 proof, solid taste, and it's only about $25 for a fifth.

Second that. Haven't had a RR pick that I was disappointed with.
